Harvelle's Roadhouse, Nebraska, Late Tuesday Night

Apr 01, 2015 17:55

The roadhouse had been closed all day, but that didn't mean Jo had gotten a day off, instead she and Mom had spent the entire morning, afternoon, and evening recarving various signs and sigils and laying down salt lines. Then Ash had gotten the brilliant idea of mixing salt and holy water into paint for a more permanent effect, and guess who got to put that to good use.

"Are you sure this is even going to work?" she asked, propping the stepladder against the wall. "This isn't how normal people spend the week before Easter."

Ellen lightly cuffed the back of Jo's head. "You had your chance for normal and ran screaming from it. I don't say anything about your damn fool hunting." As much. These Days. Right now didn't count. "You don't say anything about having to help with the wards. Besides it's April Fool's tomorrow, which means tricksters and..."

"And we don't want to leave any cracks because they'll see it as an open invitation," Jo finished with a sigh. "Hand me the paintbrush."
