Ok, I'm just going to spell it out for everyone... You are welcome to disagree and hate my opinion and such but please be adult about it.

Katrina was a HORRIBLE hurricane BUT we knew it was coming. New Orleans is below sea level so no shit if a hurricane hits a city that is below sea level, things will be bad. SO WHY THE HELL WERE THEY NOT MORE PREPARED??? New Orleans is full of "projects" or areas where people live but usually cannot afford cars. Schools have buses. Here is a novel idea: when you tell people to evacuate, why not use the buses to get the poorer people to safety??? Why is it that 80% of the people in the shelter were the ones without cars, without a way to escape the horrors of the storm? There is a floating hospital on it's way to help out everyone. WHY THE HELL WAS THE FLOATING HOSPITAL IN MARYLAND??? If Florida and the southern states deal with multiple hurricanes every year, why is it not closer to the south??? Why are people dying when they could have lived had the hospital been closer... It won't be there until Tuesday at the earliest, just so you know. The police closed the streets down before the storm hit. So the people who waited until the last minute got stranded. It still would have been horrible because it was a big storm but we could have avoided so much by actually preparing. I mean, it's hurricane season, they always come. NOT TO MENTION, how long was Katrina out at sea, headed towards us??? Yeah, so why is it that we are waiting until AFTER the storm has hit and killed thousands of people...

And I agree with Christine. We are spoiled. We don't HAVE to have cars, we could oh I dunno, WALK? Ride a bike, try and become HEALTHY... It's ridiculous that ONE area got hit hard and yet everyone is freaking out about THEMSELVES instead of trying to help...

So we can whine and complain all we want. But for the people actually HIT by the hurricane, anything we do now will be too little, too late.
