there has been a lot of talk about the death penalty here in california with the upcoming...now done with death penalty of stanley williams, convicted murderer and co-founder of the crips gang. at the time of the murders, he was convicted and sentenced to death. while spending many years ALIVE in jail, he wrote several children's books denouncing gang life and many believed because of this, he was a redeemend man. i even heard that he was nominated for the nobel peace prize. (makes me gag)
there have been many protests trying to persuade the govenor to turn over his death sentence. yesterday he denied clemency. (cheers to the govenator)
at 12:35 AM today, stanley williams was put to death as sentenced.
so here is what i think, sure, he may have written children's books denouncing gang life...that's great, but does that mean he is a changed man? i don't think so. especially since he would never admit to the killings...would never turn in fellow gang members..would never divulge information to the authorities to help solve more gang related crimes, which, as the co-founder and leader of the crips gang..would no doubt have privy to such info...... i think he hasn't shown he is redeemed. and even if i say okay...maybe he has changed, i still think , sure perhaps he is a changed man, but shit, he had the chance to LIVE many years affording him the opportunity TO CHANGE...the people who were murdered in cold blood didn't have that chance.
he was convicted of murder. his sentence was death. after many years, his sentence was finally carried out.
and just a final note. if he was truly a redeemed man, then GOD will take that into consideration.
