Things I’ve been meaning to say:

Last weekend was my Rotary district’s annual conference, so all the exchange students had to go Saturday from 2 til evening sometime (I forget). And it was boring as hell. Except all the exchange students were together, which is never really *that* boring.
But the next day Mayra and I had to go again even though none of the other exchange students had to go, because my host parents said so. -_-; So when we got there we explored the campus (it was held at a local college) for a little bit and then decided to ditch. We just started out walking without any idea where we were going, but we somehow managed to find our way to the train station and from there hop a bus to the shopping district. Mayra bought two pairs of shoes and a hat, we both bought new purses, and we took photobooth pictures with some of her classmates that we ran into. Then we headed back, buying lunch from some street vendors on the way. It ended up being really fun.

Also, yesterday when we got to our Chinese lesson 4th period, our teacher said she had to go to a meeting in Taipei. So we asked if we could go with her. And she said okay. So just like that we were road tripping to Taipei with our teacher and her husband. When we got there, Mayra and I met up with Kallen, Ben, Nick, and a German girl and hung out in Ximen for three hours while my teacher was at her meeting. It was awesome. I took a lot of pictures of Ximen and then we went to a cosplay costume store (Kallen’s idea) and tried on costumes (also Kallen’s idea). I’m mildly embarrassed to have engaged in such activities (lol) but it was fun anyway. And we snuck some pictures even though you’re not supposed to without paying.

There’s so much potential for mad fun on this island, and, in spite of this, the Taiwanese kids still manage to lead such depressingly boring lives.
