Wrote this to my mom last night.
"Anyway, it's a little after 10pm here which means it's 10am for you.
Yesterday I got to Seoul at like 5pm local which was like 4am for me
biologically. The plane was long, but I watched three movies, slept
for a total of about 6 hrs, and had two meals. The food on Korean
Airlines is incredible. When we (the 21 of us on the flight from
Chicago to here) go to Seoul, we were dismayed to find that we had to
leave the airport to get to the transit hotel... Nathan told us that
we wouldn't even have to go through customs... but everything worked
out fine and the hotel was absolutely amazing. We flew out from Korea
at 9:30am local and arrived at about 11am Taiwan time. Taiwan is
bee-U-tiful. My family is so nice. We live in a big city. The house is
very nice. It's in the middle of the city, squished in between
buildings, and it's tall and skinny. My room is on the second floor
and I'm sharing it with Sin Lu until she goes to Mexico. We went out
for lunch on the way home, and then we went out to dinner at 7. We
took a brief walk through the night market in Taichung City (about ten
minutes from here) before coming home. The night market is so cool,
but I was too tired to shop. ...I think that covers pretty much
everything so far. So far I haven't had problems with the food... My
older sister (who's in college, so she won't be home much) speaks
English. The rest of the family can manage broken English. I haven't
learned much Mandrin yet, but I've been listening to them speak it all
day. It's a little overwhelming, but mainly just exciting.
I can't wait to start school here."
