FINALLY!!!

Mar 06, 2006 16:59

I finally got to go snowboarding. It may not be winter anymore, but I don't care. I finally got it in.

Friday

Most of the students skipped school this day. I would've joined them if Kasper wasn't so pissed already. So I went and skipped practice since my train was leaving at 4:16 (actually, 4:30 because of a delay) and it takes about 45 minutes to drive to the station. Jenefer took me there and took my keys so I'd have a car incase something happened.

I arrived at Union Station around 5:15. Our bus was supposed to leave around 5:30, but I forgot that our AFS group is always late. I was the first student there. Nobody else even arrived until 5:45. We didn't leave the Station until another hour later.

The bus was coach, so it was nice. We made a stop for food two hours into the trip and then watched Chicago for the other three hours.

Oh, Sam and I saw this huge, I mean HUGE stop sign in the middle of nowhere. It was like the size of the bus' windshield. It was crazy...

We arrived at Timberline, West Virgina about 11:30 and had our short "don't do this" meeting, and then got the bad news: Our breakfast was only being served at 6 to 6:15 am. We didn't hear this until midnight, and the building where the food was was a good walking distance away, which meant we'd have to seriously wake up and get dressed for the day rather than go in pjs.

Saturday

First of all, let it be known that I hate kids...

So we got our wake up call at 5:15. That was an ok time for the guys. There was only 12 of us total in our lodge room and two bathrooms. That's plenty for guys. But that's apparently not enough for the girls, which there were 28 of. They had the hardest time getting ready I have ever seen. Us guys were at the restaurant showered and dressed before 6 while none of them were even out the door.

We finally got to go to rentals. The snowboarders were first, which were me, Johaness, and all the asian girls who wanted me to teach them. I spent the first hour teaching them how to move and stop. Then they spent 4 hours practicing, while I spent them dodging stupid kids. The very first one I came across cut in front of me while I was doing at least 35 mph. There was no way I could've stopped successfully, but I tried anyway out of instinct and ended up flipping over him and landing on my shoulder, which still kinda hurts.

Then we had lunch.

Then we hit the slopes again. I got seriously hurt this time while doing a run on a course that went around the mountain. There was ice on the dark side of it during a turn, and on the edge there was a cliff. Unable to turn, I chose to fall right where I was rather than dying. I didn't get on the board for the rest of the day, but it was 5:00, so it didn't really matter.

I relaxed with Yezi, Arty, Ann, Mami, and Jaja for a while in their room. I just have to say that girls are far more messy than guys. Most of the stuff they brought along, they didn't even use. It was just lying around... Anyways, I got kicked out an hour later by Natalia because she wanted to take a shower. I didn't see how my being there would affect that in any way though. There were girls sleeping in the guys room from other groups since we had plenty of space (one room could house like 30 people) and they took showers with us there. It's not like they were walking around naked or in their panties...

There was a club underneathe the restaurant that opened at 9. Pretty much everybody went. The adults had a bar, so of course they weren't coming. At first, the club really, really, sucked. The music was horrible and the room was really tiny (mostly because the roof was low). Dag had the bright idea of starting a mosh-pit. Thank god it didn't work.

As the only black person there (at the time), I had to fix it somehow. So I came up with plan G: find a random girl and get grinding. No guy was going to go until I went first, so I grabbed Mizuho and... I'm not going into details. Anyways, it worked. The music got better and more people started coming. When the music started to suck again, we just yelled at the dj. I was still mostly dancing with Mizuho... :D

Eventually, everyone got kicked out and we had to go to bed.

Sunday

Breakfast was at 8 today, so we got to sleep in some.

Since snowboard rentals were $29 extra for each day we were there, everyone who rented took theirs back and got skis. Skiing is actually a lot easier to pick up. It's like roller blading without wheels...

Natalia and I tried a medium level course, but the first half was crazy steep. It also had sharp turns with cliffs over the edges. We decided to take the safe route and slide on our buts to the flatter half, which was really easy except for the icy tunnels.

The rest of the day was pretty much the same as Saturday. Just out on the slopes until we had to leave at 4.

I think I put myself in a love triangle during the trip. Yezi, the cute Chinese girl, really likes me. I like her too, but I like Mizuho as well. Mizuho is the best dancing partner I've ever had. Plus she has the exact kind of attitude I like in a girl. We were all over each other on the bus too anyway.

Wow, that always helps. Whenever I talk about things like that, I always make my decision before I'm done.

So the weekend was great. And now I'm thinking about paying Mizuho a visit this weekend...
