So I made an awesome dinner tonight! I couldn't find a recipe that I liked, so I just made it up as I went along. I defrosted chicken breasts and cooked them slowly in a pan with walnut oil, olive oil, white wine, minced garlic, the juice from half an orange, the juice from half a lime, lemon pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, chopped onion, bell pepper strips, and a small amount of corn starch mixed with water to thicken it slightly. I served it over white rice and the Snoqualmie Valley Chardonnay I bought went really well with it.. except that white wine is more challenging to drink when you're eating spicy food..
Anyway. I'll do something different to chicken tomorow night. I really really enjoy cooking without a recipe, oh the freedom! I am invited to a 24-hour art party this weekend, which I may or may not be able to go to because of work, but if I went, it would be fun to cook and bake as my art project. I can get really creative really easily in that department.
So yeah, I had a great weekend. Ended up at Folklife yesterday, inevitably. I even smoked a negligible amount of pot near the trees! Amazing! Today I didn't do anything really, other than edit my resume. Since I quit the desk/temp job, I figure I'll need another part-time restaurant job to keep me occupied/monied. I probably won't start working until July, but it's nice to have the resume ready. I also made a pair of cutoffs out of a pair of jeans from high school, cut across the knee. Who knew that style could be so comfortable? I sure didn't.
In other news, I'm reading up on the flu pandemic of 1918 for fun. My dad sent me a book on it a while back, and I finally have time to read it! I'm about a third of the way through it, and of course I had to go to Half Price Books the other day and pick up a book on WWI. Dang I have so much reading to do!
I'm leaving next Friday to go to Portland for a week and hang out with my dad, brothers, and cousin Kevin who will be in town on tour with a theater company. I'm also probably taking another trip the last week of June/first week of July. You can see why I can't get another job until then.

Edited To Add: Just for the record, I also used apple cider vinegar in the chicken. It was important.
