Surprises in the Mail: The Ny Eition

Oct 06, 2013 11:33

I got a surprise package in the mail recently, which turned out to be from Ny and loaded with smoothie stuff. Sometimes I am ultimately surprised by this world, and all bowled over with these fuzzy feelings. That irony about what happens when people have your address and decide they can help.

Which is hard for me. Even writing that post, and being honest beyond the fact, was hard. But I don't lie to my journal, or my friends. Even if sometimes I do avoid/have an incredibly hard time making it look apparent to anyone sitting next to me. I don't lie to anyone who asks me for answer on things. And then?

People surprise you with their care, like getting
browngirl's parcel:

A surprise package of smoothie add-ons:

Pomegranate Powder
Maca Power
Hemp Protein Powder
Ginger Honey Crystals

And since, she has me in the mood. Have some update-y adorable, morning smoothie station pictures to go along with the boundless gratitude. I really can't wait to try all of these things. I know how to use powders. Can I just add the Ginger-Hoeny Crystals the same way, or should I drink them like tea? I have so many curiosities. (Also, Thank you, thank you, thank you.)

And a few recent substitutes for my Almond Milk this last week

It was an interesting moment, taking that last picture when I realized I've had at least one milkshake this year (while Gabby and Laura were down for the rodeo and we ate at this awesome burgers & milkshakes & classic cars place) but that at home I've never even stopped to consider putting milk-milk (animal-milk) in my smoothies. I'm so used to the challenge place using almond, coconut, rice mostly that I never thought about it.

Strange. Between the smoothies, the copious amounts of water and tea, I think I must have drunk the least amount of milk in my life in 2013. I mean, I still order it in restaurants but only sometimes. It's like this even toss up between 50% hot tea with honey & lemon (which is the only time I add anything to my tea, too. At restaurants), and then 50% milk/wine/mixed drink/water with lemon.

It's all strange, given that I never meant to go out and do it. It was never a diet or an aim. Just sort of this shift I noticed, suddenly, more than half a year after it was already normal.
