the sound of silence

I met with my new director today. You now. Nearly a month and half after she transitioned over. She decided today was the day to finally meet her contractors. My specific meeting took about thirty minutes. I came in prepared, handing over five pages typed of my job duties, which seemed to impress her and the new team lead (who is the person, I’m currently working with, who is handling the other half of my Shadows work until she returns).

I heard a lot of glowing things about my work. I heard a lot of gentle, respectful, professional, this must be said to everyone to be fair, reminding that being a contractor at USAA is not being an employee there, and about how the rights, privileges and benefits play out. I really didn't hear anything at all to worry about.

But I may still be nursing the sting of the announcement that we're no longer allowed to have personal phones or music players on our desks pretty much from tomorrow through indefinitely. I'm tired of being a tennis ball thrown between you can, you can't, you can, you can't, you can, you can't.

Sigh. At least people really love my work, yeah?

(One more work day until my Shadow returns.)
