Day VII - Poetry / Feeding The Soul

If I think in music, I breathe poetry, and spend my life wistfully wishing I could speak in it and only it, because it is a completely other language from its native roots in whatever dialect it is in.

I can wax poetic about poetry until all the stars have run away and the shadows eaten the moon. And I have a few times here before in the last decade to boot.

But this is a specific thank you, to the me from over a year and half ago about poetry. A year and a half ago, or maybe even two, I was going through such a blight of having no poetry in my life, no people who liked poetry, nothing related to it.

And I set myself into several e-mail update groups that sent poetry to me every morning. I've finished whole group amounts and had to move on to others over that time, but I've come to rely on and love so deeply my every morning e-mail with at least one new poem (whether new being recently written or new simply being delivered that day).

There's a part of me that starts breathing, that I never felt stop, when I look at stanza shaping. A part of my heart that starts beating faster, truer, deeper, more contentedly when I get to start reading over the lines. No matter the caliber, I love so deeply all of them. Their arrival. Their air.

And so I'm thanking the me from then, for embracing the life and the love and the things that feed me. Even if it is rarely shared or understood, at times. That make me feel that much more content and true and at peace in my quietest places every single morning when I spot my newest piece.

about me, holidays, holidays: thanksgiving, poetry, 40 days of gratitude
