Hrm.
You know. I am still not fond of most things Matt Smith/Matt Smith's Story Arc's.
But this episodes disappointed me in new ways, too. Because we skipped really the things between the last episode and this one. We skipped any of the finding Amy and finding out who took her, where they took her, why they took her, who was involved. I'm supposed to be impressed about the end of The Anger of The Doctor & Rory and yet.
I don't feel like it made sense. I feel like I missed this whole chapter in the middle. The Chapter with all the Hard Work. Between the end of last episode and this one. And I was supposed to care about only getting whispers and vague clips of the very end of that Missing Chapter. And River Song (who I still don't specifically love or like and pretty much still feel the same about after reveal), her speech of the name/word 'Doctor' was supposed to mean something, but we missed seeing him be That Warrior.
Ten was Vainglorious at times and truly terrible to behold post!Rose. Even Nine, we saw his anger and his willingness to kill pre!Rose. But Eleven, I feel like they're riding coattails and making inferences and not be daring or caring enough showing us the story. Just melodramatic clips of a few seconds. And then speeches about/against the things we never saw.
Which.....just leaves me disappointed.
This episode wasn't all that bad -- I dearly do love everything about Rory and Amy, and The Tardis, still and again and always -- but I feel like it skipped the Mythic Arc. And we missed so much that could have been. Again. Which has so much more to do with the writers than it does with anything else.
