I have issues.

`It's December and December means there are Christmas cards and packages. I started getting the prior the very first day of this month, which made me smile so much (thank you to lijahlover, aelora and memoryanddream) and today there was a package key when I went to pick up the mail.

Which led to a tiny unassuming white box, and a two phase hilarity.

Phase One

I walk to my house and sit on my bed rambling at Hope about said box. It is white. And a square-shaped. And covered in priority tape. And it has the names of two people I don't recognize. And it is incredibly light, but it is covered all over where the tape isn't with the Fragile stamp.

And wait! But this is not all! For it is -- December. Which means it could be Christmas List related. And what if it isn't wrapped. And why is Hope or Earl not here to open it and let me know for sure if it is safe to look at. Because Christmas things can't be opened except at Yule-Christmas times. For it is my unbroken rule. And what if it isn't.

In my head I'm already equating myself to the little cartoon man (in Treasure Planet? Or something?) who created the thing with the red button, but didn't know what it was and whether to push the red button at all.

And Hope, I am quite certain, is laughing herself to death while i continue to have my quandary at the little white box even while she's listening to me ramble about it and teasing me about my love of surprises and my oh, so vaunted patience skills. Which are failing since I can't know if it's supposed to be under the tree or opened now. And this year was made of so many random things suddenly arriving.

While Earl is still unhelpfully asleep in his bed.

Phase Two

The Vampire Diaries ends taking away my last shred of distraction (as all other tv shows, Temple of the Twelve and Ariadne’s Thread had all been done already) which left me and the box. So I decided! I will open the tape on the side and peer into the magical unmarked box and look for signs of Christmas paper or cards.

Some instructions! And lo and behold there is a card, with my name on it! And below it is a package all wrapped up in white with red string, adorable details. And a tiny blue surprise to boot.

So, now my card from earthspirits is with my stack and her shiny happy package is under my tree. And amusingly enough, for all the white box quandary, I'm quite content with letting it sit under the tree, there with the cats who are in love with the tree skirt, waiting for Yule-Christmas, now that there is a plan!
