I have birthday plans!

Apr 29, 2010 00:34

People have been asking for days on days what I'm doing for my birthday. Why? Because the last time I had a birthday in America, it was 2008, and I invited something like ten or fifteen people out for my birthday. There was dinner at a nice restaurant, followed by a Chinese acrobat show, and finished off by drinks and desserts at a jazz lounge downtown.

If you're anyone who's aware of me recently, that not exactly my scene and speed yet, but birthday is coming together.

Friday is looking to be when Earl and I will wine tour with my parents, which is a combined (I think not related to birthday's, actually) gift. My birthday dinner with my parents will be one of the nights between Sunday and Tuesday, at some place I haven't chosen yet (probably the little place they introduced me to before I left that I love and can't name properly right this second). I know I'll probably have breakfast and shenanigans with Earl my birthday morning.

I expect my normal birthday herald will start it off in the smashing way he always does.

But I've been prodding the universe delicately trying to figure out what my big birthday thing was, because it wasn't on my arts and events calendar. And if felt like there was or should be something, but nothing seemed or sounded or felt right. Until just a little while ago when it landed in my lap.

Peter Beagle is doing his Texas Tour starting this Saturday and running the whole of next week.

So during next week, a friend and I are going to road trip it to Austin where he's having a DraftHouse big screen showing of The Last Unicorn, followed by both a book signing and Q n' A session. And I'm even debating the end cap tour piece of the "Meet the Author" party. I am not certain I will know what to say when I see this man, but my ticket is already purchased and I'm totally going to get him to sign my book and dvd.

(....I wonder if he signs laptops. I totally got Terry Moore to sign my last one...

P.S. Anyone within the sound of my voice can totally tag along, too, if you get your tickets.)
