I like the idea of a revamp being that one actually and actively revamps the Doctor Who. This is part of why I am leery and uncertain previous to having watched your episode. I loved both Nine and Ten. And I could even grow to love the scraggly mop boy that might become 11, but certainly is not yet, and thus should we get a few things straight first:
Your revamp should not continue to ping for me the first four seasons rerunning Nine and Ten's themes.
1. Cracks in spacetime/walls (Rose..and others)
2. Girl with Boyfriend/Fiance (Rose's 1st)
3. Companion with Crush on Doctor (Uh. Everyone not Donna?)
4. Mass Hospital use (Martha's 1st...and many others)
5. Girl getting Married (Donna's 1st)
6. Prophesy (Multiple seasons?)
All this aside so far I really like Amy and who Amy was and became and held on to.
And I really love how much of Amy's character and interaction is steeped in time.
I loved the affection and sass toward the Tardis in multiple instances.
The doctor reminds me currently of a thirteen year old time lord, which I can manage.
And while episode one was by no means a thing of stunning glory, I do not absolutely hate Moffet yet. But also, because I am very very very leery of Moffet taking over my show, after not loving anyone save Sallie and Pompadour he introduced and liking his props and sets but not much of his episodes, I feel no qualms against having read the write-ups for
Moffet's Episode Guide.
(Warning for spoilers, of course, should you click that link!)
I'm uncertain I want to go anywhere near 4/5 already.
And I'm sort of on board with Amy's character Arc already.
Hopefully next week and the one after it will cement my opinion more.
