Today was crazy long but serene throughout

Dec 27, 2008 03:02

I feel like when I pick a glamourkin (one of the lovely pieces made here by mermaiden andwillow_cabin) for the day it's almost like enacting a spell that's sitting in quiet wait for me. Today's pendant read "Be True to Peace" and I feel that wherever today went it's been rather the undercurrent to it all.

- Slept in a little and woke up to a full plate morning. Called the base about their stock of iPod classics, which there were many of and they'd be happy to sell to me. Called Kay's only to be told, no, really, there was no way to speed up my resizing even if I was willing to pay for it. Spent the next hour or so cleaning out my car so that it could be taken to CarMax for pricing.

- Came back in and played around more with the set up of my laptop. It's a sleek, fast, thing of beauty. The way it works now, I'm tempted to not have it changed over to XP at all. Worked on it while no one could figure out exactly what to do about lunch. We decided instead to take the run to the base and push off the CarMax trip.

- We stopped by the bank first, for more depositing, withdrawing, and alerting of the bank to my possible use of cards in Korea during the next fourteen months. Lunch was had at the base, though no one turned out to be all that hungry when all was said and done. Located were a handful more of my last odds and ends for Korea, more wrapping paper for my mother for next year, and my gorgeous new toy - a 120 gig iPod classic with a sensible, fashionable, carry case. Without tax, because the base is awesome.

- Came home and got into the car with Gordon to leave for CarMax only to have the car not start, and realize the starter had died, and it needed to be towed. So I played around on the newest iheart community, because of both the new hard drive on the computer and the iPod, which meant so amazingly that suddenly I'm going to have a huge amount of music. The kind of huge where forty gigs of it is going to look pale sometime soon.

- Got the mail to some up and down news. My (paternal) grandfather sent me a Christmas card. Direct Loans denied my consolidation in round one (and weren't all that helpful with the why and how to fix it on the phone). And trelali's awesome sweater of awesome gift arrived and looked adorable on me.

- Figured out Skype with my mother in the afternoon - both the microphone alone and the video cam with it - so that'll be added to my constant information change most likely soon, too. If you want my Skype I'm giving it out to anyone too. At least the on the laptop part. We'll see about the cell once I figure out Skype Out and all that jazz later.

- Then I got a call from a number I didn't know, which turned out to be a voicemail telling me to come pick up my ring. I sputtered in surprise (See point one!) but then got off my butt and drove there immediately. It's so tiny and delicate and beautiful (and I'm a lot more adjusted to the surprise ring on that finger hours later now). I stopped by Billy's work, since it was across the parking lot, to show him it all sized right and be goofily cute. And get my sappy 'every kiss begins with K' kiss to go with my ring even - no, maybe especially - across a work counter.

- Headed off to my father for the evening, where we exchanged Christmas gifts. I got my three new books; two from his newest series and the latest Harry Potter extra. We settled down to play with the multitude of new electric toys on both our parts. Ran to Wal-Mart looking for a cable but it didn't turn up there, so we grabbed dinner, then just let the huge things move between the external and settled in watching Leon: The Professional.

And home again, contemplating the world of more errands tomorrow should have. Last minutes all blurring together because it's too late. I think the Semi-Annual sale may be starting this/tomorrow morning, so I need to be up crazily early (yes, only in comparison to going to sleep at this point) to go see it when it opens and see if there is anything worth splurging and taking with me. I should do the actual last weekend before moving Target errands if I'm going to be out that early, too.

Then whatever is for happening at home, with the parents, until dinner out.

Which means sleep is the best for right now. I love you all. Very much.
