If you have lots of files that get moved around alot it can suck up your disk space by leaving lots of little bits of memory that are scattered amongst the others, too small for other stuff to go. (not sure that made much sense... but its Saturday and this "work type stuff")
Also check to see if your machine still has all its RAM going, and do any Windows Updates you might have missed.
I'm defragging again, even though it wasn't very long since my last one, as you've both suggested. Before defrag it's got 25% free space going right now.
My Windows Updates are all up to date. Where do I check the RAM thing?
Defrag done. It's still 25% free, likely because I'd done it so recently.
Why would I need a bigger hard drive? My present one is 100 GB with 20 GB free at presently, and all most all the time, because I move the things I keep to my two externals.
It's okay, that how I had my desk top configured when I owned one. I always had a tiny for just programs and big for everything else I don't think I can put a second hard drive in my lap top.
All my extra stuff like you mentioned actually is on externals though. There aren't any games. The only extra stuff actually on her that is big is my music collection.
How do I check those? I have not done that before.
Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter
