Prompt: Storm Hawks, Aerrow/Piper: rumors - “Where do people come up with these things?”
The downside to being a Sky Knight squadron leader was the paperwork. On the upside, with the other three male members of his crew viewing paperwork as torture, he was pretty much guaranteed a couple hours to himself while doing it.
Piper on the other hand…
As if responding to his thoughts, the door opened, providing a much needed break from the weekly accounts.
“Hey Aerrow, guess what I just heard in the market place?” While the question itself was innocent enough, he knew that glint in her eyes.
“Let me guess, someone dared Finn to a drinking contest again?” Mentally Aerrow shuddered, Finn could-and had-drink three bars worth of beer without getting the least bit tipsy.
“Not this time, I think they still remember us.” Piper leaned on the edge of the desk, letting her left hand support her weight.
“It seems that you and I are wasting away.” At his raised eyebrow she continued. “Apparently, we’ve both been secretly pinning away for each other, but we’re too concerned about the team dynamics to do anything about it.” Arching her back, the back of her right hand on her forehead, she copied the play actors they had seen pretending to faint.
Reaching towards her, Aerrow tangled their right hands together, gently tugging her closer. “Honestly, where do people come up with these things?” He asked, letting his amusement soften his voice.
“I don’t know.” Piper told him, settling onto the chair with him, trapping their hands between their chests, faces a couple inches apart. “After all, we’ve been so much more for so much longer, and nobodies ever figured it out.” She answered, closing the distance between the two. Their hands pushed so close together, they could easily feel the engagement rings on each other’s middle finger.
