My questions from write_rewrite

1. What is your honest opinion on Brotherhood? They seem to be mixed and I'm SORRY I'M TERRIBLE AT ASKING QUESTIONS /flails.
Haha, this is true! They are mixed. My honest opinion is that it is a great game but it was rushed out the door in order to be released a year after AC2. The improvements to combat are awesome, Cesare made a fantastic villain, and the addition of multi-player was a surprise bonus. Also, THE CROSSBOW. There are lots of little things I loved, but what made it feel rushed was the fact that it was still using the same game engine but trying to do even more. The first couple of times I was galloping through Rome and Ezio and his mount froze, I thought my game had died. It wasn't until it happened again and again that I noticed the rendering that was going on in the background and realized what the problem was. To me, that's super frustrating, and I would have been happy to wait months if it meant I didn't have put up with that.
2. Are there any little nonsensical things that just get on your nerves?
Oh my. In general? Probably quite a few. The first one that comes to mind is when people write "your" instead of "you're". That is such a bitchy thing to be annoyed by but I can't help it. I try to just roll my eyes the first time, but I've known people who do it habitually and it makes me batty. Oh! And I can't stand it when my husband leaves a bowl (or plate) on top of a stack in the sink instead of adding it to the bottom. That doesn't sound like it makes sense so I'll try to explain. The dishes tend to collect in the sink (no dishwasher) until I have time to blitz through them. I try to gather them as neatly as possible so there's still room in the sink if we need to fill a glass or pot at the faucet. We put all the silverware in one bowl and then stack the bowls, and plates go under the bowls. (OMG I sound neurotic by now...) So my husband will put his cereal bowl on top of the stack, on top of the silverware, so that it juts up like an unsteady bust on a pedestal. Somehow, this takes up more space and never fails to annoy me.
3. Do you have any dream that you wish/are determined to accomplish? What is it?
Hm... My dream has always been to get a novel published. I've been writing (in some shape or form) for almost 17 years, and I've had an original novel planned out for maybe 15 of those years. It's been completely overhauled twice and is probably due for a third rewrite but I just don't have the time or energy. Plus, in more recent years I've developed the weary acceptance that I'll never make it. My idea isn't that original or ground-breaking and I don't think my writing is that incredible that it would win over an editor in spite of the plot. I still think about it sometimes, especially since most of my favorite authors didn't start until later in life. (What I need to do is find a porn publisher. I seem to be good at that. XD)
Barring that, I am determined to get back to Japan before I die, and to take my husband with me so I can show him all the cool places I used to haunt when I lived there.
4. What's your favorite kind of literature genre?
OH NO YOU DIDN'T. I thought this would be like "what type of music do you like?" but then I realize it's not that hard. My favorite genre is fantasy, plain and simple. I grew up on Mercedes Lackey and Tamora Pierce (among others) and occasionally delved into science-fiction, when it wasn't too heavy on the science. More recently, Brent Weeks' Night Angel trilogy tops my list as a favorite in that genre.
As a bullet point beneath that, I will say that the new "urban fantasy" genre is something I read a lot of nowadays. That's Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, and a bunch of others I don't read. (Talk about a saturated market...)
5. Aside from Assassin's Creed, what kind of games do you primarily play?
For the longest time, I only played JRPGs SquareEnix RPGs and to be fair, it was just Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. I grew up watching my older brother play video games and he really enjoyed the FF series so I got into it. FFX (and X-2, embarrassingly enough) and KH1 & 2 were my bread and butter for the longest time. Then I met Dante of DMC fame. XD That was my first real foray into action/adventure/hack-and-slash games, although I suppose KH technically is an action game since it's not menu-based fighting. I just don't consider it the same because it's such a truly SquareEnix game. Since falling so hard for Dante, I've ventured further into the adventure category with the AC games, Prince of Persia, Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, and Uncharted (though I've seen more than I've played).
So primarily Square RPGs and action/adventure/hack-and-slash. But on the side (or when my husband is hogging the PS3), I absolutely adore the Phoenix Wright series (adventure/visual novel?) and games that might be in the "casual gamer" category: Cooking Mama, Plants vs Zombies, Big Bang Mini. (I think I over-answered the question...again.)
