December 12th: Wow, it's been three days

Dec 14, 2008 20:55

Yeah, Friday was as crazy as I thought it was going to be and then some, Saturday was hetic, and today has been pretty full as well. But I'm going to at least and try get through THE CHARIOT RACE before my brother gets back on the computer for his project.
Okay, so, for those who don't know, at my school it is traditional that the Honors Latin III class make chariots and race them against each other (teams are based on who lives closest to each other). I was part of the red team and there was a blue and green team as well. And we had a pretty good auidence turnout:

Yeah, the biggest we've ever had. So we line up, decide to run three laps around the carpool lane (which god, must be between a fourth and a half mile total, maybe more, it's really dang long). And we pulled back to race. Shader and Leigh had gotten out of their classes to watch and my brother was dragged out of his.

I have a video of the beginning of the race but haven't uploaded it yet (maybe I'll get to it soon?). In that video you see the blue teams chariot falling apart after, what, two feet? The handles came off so they were out and it was between the greens and the reds!

After the first lap (here is the green team crossing the first lap) we switched out runners, but since no one was pulling the chariot nearly tipped over! So the five of us who weren't riding quickly flipped it back up and sent it on it's way!

Green team after a lap and a half, coming in to switch... They had trouble as well, at one point Jose was the only one pulling the whole chariot!

And here we are, GO RED TEAM GO!

And it started to get intense, the green team kept cutting us off (for the record, I did no pulling, I would've slowed it down and just took pictures instead) so the red team couldn't get on the inside. At the last turn (I swear, the carpool lane is perfectly shaped for chariot racing) we got on the inside, but they shoved us halfway up the curve! At that point it was on, final strech, downhill, and our team started hitting and smacking the greens! XD LOL, YES THAT IS ALLOWED (one team once cut across the median and won that way and it was legit)! And so, we won! YAY, COME FROM BEHIND WIN! The guys were about to pass out from all the running, Jose did puke and go him sick afterwards (poor him :( ), but we won, yay! If you want to see what our chariot looked like in detail (or see our curse rocks, guess which one is mine/Slyvester!) go here
Uh-oh, think I gotta go, crap, signing off, the baby sitting wasn't that surprising, but I did get to play with a Wii, it was fun, Ted and Kasy came over to celebrate my mom's 50th birthday (yay Thai food) and between myself, phantom, and Leigh we know TEN PEOPLE with a December 12th birthday! Seriously, think I need to run.
