December 5th, 6th, and 7th: What a boring past couple of days

Dec 07, 2008 16:50

Well, the past couple of days haven't been interesting and haven't been much fun either. On Friday I was working on my freshman photos for art class (our assignment is to get photos of two of the freshman in the adjoining art one and then make this whole collage about them) and I was working on the macs (well, PCs trying to be Macs, maybe that's our problem) so I could work with the tablets again. I do some nice work, attempt to save, it says I don't have enough access, I go okay, save it to a different place and plan to drag it around later, log off, get on one of the PCs and my photos are gone.
Like, kaput,
nada,
ZERO BYTES OF INFORMATION!
Seriously, that was two week's of hard effort down the drain! That was two weeks of learning how to do a dozen things and no one even knows how it got deleted or why it refused to save. I mean, to put this is perspective, this is the equivalent of spending quite a while making a scuplture, learning how to actually make one, leaving it at home alone for a few hours, and coming home to find your hamster ate it, THAT'S how ridiculous this is. There is a slight chance that it might still be saved on the Macs, if so I'll save another copy and then attempt to transfer that over via USB, but if there isn't there will be hellfire, crying, and the freshman are going to get a lesson in foreign cuss-words.
So that ruined Friday for me, I was super depressed, not even my amusement that the other art teacher (the Art I and II teacher) wore a skirt identical to the one I cut up for Yuki and also got it from goodwill could cheer me up.
In the evening I call one of my classmates to make sure we are still meeting Sunday for the final stages of chariot making, he says yes, I call another classmates to see if we can carpool, but he was out so I leave a message. Then the first guy (Austin) calls back later and says that Sunday isn't good for his grandpa after all (it's his wood shop we're using and that we are going to meet same time on Saturday instead).

Saturday rolls around and, in the few minutes I have before my mom and I are going to leave, the carpool classmate (Adam) calls and says sure, he can drive me. I ask if he knows it's today, that was news to him, he calls someone else to check, and then says he'll be over in ten minutes. So the two of us make it over okay, I still had my directions and we kinda remembered the way as well, and only one other guy, Ivy was there. Austin and the last guy (our other girl couldn't make it) get there and we pretty much finish that baby. Our chariot is A~MAZ~ING, we definitely have the best put together and best designed chariot. So we try it out, and by we I mean that I had to stand in the thing, try to balance, and they see if they can pull it across the shop. They can, but when they try to pull it instead of push the PVC we were using to make the handle pops out and I have to catch myself as the chariot tips backwards. So Austin and the last guy go out to get more PVC joints and Adam and I watch Ivy try out skateboarding tricks and play around with them some ourselves. We also moved the wheels back a bit and when I tried balancing in there (after we reattached the pipe) it was noticeably easier to balance. After that one of the guys tried riding it (and he had great fun, he says that if our girl gets cold feet he'll ride it, I suppose I'll help pull then) and we ran up and down the street with it a bit and showed it off to the man who lent us his cart where we got the wheels from. Our wheels look pretty old and kinda rusted, but man, they turn on a dime so we won't have to spend any extra energy shoving the cart around turns. And it's so light too, I can't quite pick it up, but I could pull it around no problem for a while. I'll post pictures (and who knows, maybe even video) on Friday after we have our race, Red and Black FTW!
In the evening my dad picked my brother and I up and we went Christmas/Birthday shopping for my mom. Well, tried too anyway, we went to one cooking store and managed to pick up a nut cracker for her and think we might have found a dough scrapper as well. Go to the other mall to try to pick up the rest of the stuff, find out that the William-Sonoma is no longer there, but manage to also pick up a book of local maps for her (and I found Gakuen Alice 5 there, it's not supposed to be out until the 16th!). We then went to look at the luminera at the park and it was so beautiful, we got there right at the beginning so the walkways weren't crowded yet, but it looked so peaceful in the dark with thousands upon thousands of lite bags. I tried to get some photos, but even when I put my camera on something solid (the darker it is outside, the longer your shutter time needs to be to absorb enough light) all of my photos turned out a little shaky, I'll try adjusting them later, maybe I'll submit one or two to dA, been awhile since I did that.
Then I weirded myself out. Earlier in the evening I had been wondering why I always ended up at cooking stores buying presents for my mom, and was remembering that I had seen Olive and her group singing then. I heard some singing when I was walking around by myself (my dad has a bone spur or something that makes walking painful and my brother is the skinniest exercise hating person I have ever met) and I heard some singing in Latin. I knew what I would find but went over anyway and found the whole group singing, and probably freezing as well since it's cold out. Didn't get to talk to her but felt satisfied anyway, I just have a really weird sense of intuition. Saw the second and third Harry Potter movies later, ABC family is having a marathon, and of course, this marathon finished at like, midnight, my muse wakes up so I was scribbling the first few paragraphs of my story for english under the covers with a flashlight wedged between two pillows. Why is she nocturnal...

Sunday was dull, it's the second week of Advent yet the church wasn't packed, I was tired and took an accidental nap on my mom's bed in the afternoon, my latin translation looked like some drunk translated it, and I wasn't really motivated to work on sewing for cosplay. Need to make a Jo Annes run soon anyway, but meh, just not feeling it. I did put some of the final touches on my hair clip for Amu and am going to work on patterns for Mr. Mew and Iyrogi soon, but eeehhhh...
Signing off and hoping the next few days are better ones.
