Wow, 15 minutes to post for two days, I blame my homework (no really, do you know how hard it is to fight off homework that is trying to eat you? Not easy).
Saturday: My day started at 7:30 when I woke up with a sore throat. I got up, got a Cold Eze (which really do help if you take them soon enough), jump as the cat scares the bejebbers out of me (for the record, I have no idea what a bejebber is, some mental parasite is my theory), kick back to the other part of the house (and possibly cause him to wake up my mom, whoops but it was me or her), and proceed to doze/suck on the Cold Eze for 2 hours.
I was running around for the rest of the morning going to the library at which I discovered three things:
1. Phantom has a late 20s-early to mid 30s (I suck at guessing ages) doppleganger
2. I left the history books I checked out at home, at least they weren't due...
3. There is a "request/bug the library to buy books" form! I think I may need to submit some of those (who am I kidding, once I get the guts I will!)
Then I cleaned the bathroom and got ready to leave for Leigh's party, the first part of which was ice skating! We were supposed to meet at school, but since another girl and I actually live in the city that has the ice rink we were supposed to meet them there instead. However, just as my mom and I get in the car I get a call that says that shader and A.C. are late (shader's SATs ran half and hour over and she called as soon as they were over). We wait a bit, drive over, and then get called again as we are driving asking if I have A.C.s number. I discover that I can access my meuns on my phone while talking, and see that no I don't have her number. She is impossible to reach and she never did show up. My mom and I have talked about the impossible to reach part before and my suspects (as do I and probably some of the others) that there are some things going on at her home that she doesn't want to tell us about. I just wish she would, I just want to know what's going on and if I can help. Like one time she said that she would come to a party and then didn't. I only found out later it was because her grandmother was having surgery. I just wish she would trust us, I don't know if I should feel hurt or just sad.
They arrive at the rink a little after us, and while we are waiting I mention that I was reading Chosen the day before (the vampire book that isn't supposed to be out for another week). As I guessed, Leigh nearly jumps me and asks what happens, I said that I didn't read everything (I barely read a few chapters actually) and refuse to get spoilers. And then we ice skate.
I LOVE ice skating. Back when I live in Cleveland I took lessons so I know how to skate. I used to be able to skate forwards and backwards, glide on one skate or two forwards and backwards (although I always got this image of me impaling my head on my ice skate when I glided on one backwards, not pleasent), skate in a circle and could even do a basic spin. You know the saying that you never forget to ride a bike? I don't know about that (but it must have some truth, I was able to refigure it out after 5 years of not riding in about an hour), you never forget how to skate. And once I warm up, it is like flying with two feet. The sensation is indiscriable, I love the feeling, the effortlessness of the turns, the gliding, the undercurrent of power...
However, our unnamed friend and shader both had not ice skated before. And neither got one of the most important things in ice skating GLIDE DON'T STEP! I can't count the number of times I said that, the trick is to push, and if you keep your skates on the ice more you keep your balance more. Shader attempted to half skate half run after phantom at one point (who in-lines and can ice skate because of that, somehow shader couldn't make that transition) and ended up looking like she was doing a disco step before she fell down. I actually have a lot of experiance helping people skate (comes from being able to skate and being in the south) so I helped coach, encourage, and let the two of them hold onto my hand to help get them a little more confident. But there was one thing that prevented this, they were too scared to fall. That's what helped me get going, I knew at first I would fall a lot, so I wasn't ashamed that I did. I didn't want to fall yesterday since I was wearing my bag with my camera and cell phone in it (more worried for the camera, the cell phone can take a fall) so I am happy to report that I didn't fall once!
After grabbing some fake tattos (ones with Chinese characters, I wanted the one with dreamer on it but got passion instead) we went to Ham's for dinner (and saw Leigh's face turn bright red from being sung to by the employees there, her mom denies involement) we saw Penelope. I'll have to have a movie review centric journal this week, it was okay but I thought the plot could be better.
Then we raided Barnes and Nobel for a while (which was fun but yeesh, some of you guys take FOREVER to buy books and "Fire the rainbow laser!"). Then I was dropped off at my dads, posted last nights journal, did some math, was kept up by my brothers snoring and slept.
Nothing much happened today (thank god, I have no more time!) but I didn't manage to finish all my homework yet. But I did get that bag done! Okay, not totally by my art teacher doesn't need to know that... and besides I have been working almost all the time I could this weekend!
Signing off!
