October the 23rd, 24th, and 25th: Busy busy busy

Well, I went to bed Saturday night and then realized I'd forgotten to post but since I was trying to get to bed earlier then I just couldn't care enough to get back up and keep writing. It was a long day, hung out with fellow AZ goers at our traditional park for a few hours and that was tons and tons of fun since I hadn't seen most of these people since May. A few people couldn't come at the last minute (which is always sad) but we had a really good time regardless. We even invaded the little playground at the park for a little bit, think we may have scared off some kids who wanted to play on it though (none of us has scary outfits but some of the hair colors may have been alarming, my mom said she saw a few people take pictures of us from a distance).

Went back on Sunday and managed to work myself into a nervous frenzy about the bus ride back. Probably because I have had one or two occasions where there almost/WASN'T enough buses or they take extra long I hate relying on such an imperfect mode of transportation. Even trains would be better since they have stricter schedules and pretty well set routes but alas, I get crappy buses where the seat in front of me is jammed backwards (believe me, we tried to move it), forcing me to get into interesting positions to watch more Samurai 7.
Speaking of watching, later in the evening was the US premier of Sherlock (the BBC's modern version of Sherlock Holmes, I only heard about it because the current showrunner of Doctor Who, and this episode writer has also written some episodes for the Nu Who) and Heather and Katie came over to watch and squee over it. Hooooo my god, I ended up liking that a ton more than I expected to. They loved it as well (and I had to laugh at how one of Heather's friends got into fanfiction from reading Holmes/Watson stuff, their bromance is pretty darn canonical in the original books if I may say so myself) and they'll be coming over next week for part two.

Monday morning was a drag. Didn't sleep so well the previous night (we left the window opening and the wind kept blowing the door around and I realized my allergies were still present) and the light from her clock kept me up, gaaaahhhh. Classes went as normal although I was bemused when I glanced around my art class to see what everyone else was doing. We had to come up with an original design and then do a triadic color scheme and most people had these very detailed photo graphs that they were working from. I really do think I'm on some weird minimalistic surrealist kick, well, the fact I still have trouble mixing paint isn't helping and that I find it hard to paint in neat lines (I can do it with sewing and all sorts of pencils/markers, just not paint) gives me a very distinct style. Weeeeiirrddd, and it's not going to help when I try to do comics since I want to do the ones with really detailed backgrounds and, just something I've noticed over the years, the simpler the drawing style the harder it is to make a lot of different character designs (good thing my first story has only one main character and probably between 10 to 15 other characters that appear for more than a few panels).
Worked on Carol's dress and I think I have the body pattern done, I'll work on the sleeve patterns tomorrow and then I'll cut out the final pieces. So that'll give me Wednesday to Friday to sew the main body of the dress and all the ruffles, gah, I will beat those ruffles someday, just hope that someday is soon....
