October the 4th: Man it's chilly

Oct 04, 2010 23:42

I was finally warm last night, after I curled up under my wool blanket, winter quilt, and had all my other blankets+toothless at my back. Bah, I think they turned on the heat today but I can't seem to control the heat in my dorm room (and I could do that last year, why did I end up with a crappier dorm my sophomore year?).
Yet it was still pretty darn chilly outside and I spent a good deal of time running around outside today. Went to public speaking, did my little article on a new law in TN that lets people bring guns (well, I'm assuming concealed weapons in general) into establishments that serve alcohol (which worries me at least), and again the class wasn't interested. Oh well, y'all can go back to having your eight-years-out-of-date technology articles (seriously, they were micro chipping cats when I was in the FIFTH GRADE!) or just be, well, rather linear and conventional thinking about whatever you're discussing (so when talking about cloning a cow the first thing you think of, not even close, is the chance to clone specific meats of a cow and keep from killing and animal and saving resources? Oi, y'all are a boring lot). Went back to room and discovered I had Japanese homework (accidentally wrote out sentences instead of questions though), went to Japanese class and had a normal, amusing time (some of us try to write the strangest sentences possible just because, not in a mean way, you do have to look up additional vocabulary like "unicorn" and "rainbow" and sensei usually laughs at them). Went off to art class, grabbed all my supplies from my locker, and found that my teacher was out sick. Gah, that probably means more work outside of class (even though I work fast) and that's always annoying. Put my stuff back away, tramped off to my room, and grabbed my stuff to shoot for photography. Not quite happy with that shoot but mainly because I can't clone myself. The idea (we were given) was altered reality and I had wanted to do something involving me kinda sitting/drapped all over all the modern statues on campus (because we have a crap ton of them, more than a dozen at least) but I couldn't really model and shoot (well, it would be easier if it was digital so I could figure out how to meter the scene). And I just couldn't see anyone else as the model, if someone else metered for me then I wasn't really shooting it, and plus I did need a third person to be a supporter just in case I fell. So I compromised and grabbed my blanket (the one with penguins on it since that looked weirder than the plain red or purple one) and some tape to try and drape/arrange it over the statues on campus. I think that went okay but I won't really know until I develop them tomorrow (had some issues with the shutter at the end too so I don't think I got my last shot but it was functioning fine after I got the film out so I think the camera was just cranky).

Let's see, then I chilled, saw the last episode of Occult Academy (so I'll try to get the review out tomorrow, it's more a matter of time than figuring out what to write) and went off to knitting club (where I discovered I had left my card in my room, thank god there were people coming out as I came back in so I didn't have to wait long and look shady about it). Decided, since the other people suggested it, to change my knitting from a full scarf (since there's no way in hell I'd have that ready by next Monday) to a sort of neck muffler, much shorter so I should have that done in a few days. And I'm going to go to one of the other dorms on Wednesday where they're showing people how to crochet so hopefully I can pick it up from there (or teach anyone who really wants to learn how to knit). And then I have to whip that out really fast, after that it's back to the legwamer, and after that I need to get a smaller circular needle so I can redo my hat for my (sometime in the future) Time of Eve cosplay, and before all of that I need to quickly whip up that Navi hairclip I promised Chynna, keep forgetting about it.
