September the 20th and 21st: Had a really bad headache yesterday

Sep 21, 2010 21:11

So I couldn't think of much to write Sunday for the Millennium Actress review, had a terrible headache last night (and I can't figure out what was the trigger which is always unsettling, maybe it was the rubber cement after all?) so I couldn't finish the review then but I did get it up today so sorry for the delay. Got plenty more stuff coming too, not all great but unfortunately not everything I watch turns out to be as amazing as I hoped.
So, Monday! Busy day, not helped by the late afternoon headache, but I got through all my classes, found that media services did sell the photo paper I needed (thank god, I was having a panic attack of sorts the night before since it looked like there was no where to order paper from and get it there on time, given that I only got my debit card on Wednesday it wasn't like I'd had a ton of time to order paper but everything managed to resolve itself in the end). I think I also made progress on setting up my paycheck but I'm not sure, it's all rather confusing. I can understand it should take a number of steps to prevent anyone else from messing with my account but it still feels rather strange.
Had to teach someone else to knit in knitting club (side note, I swear, half the people I've had to teach don't take enough showers) and I'm starting to think that I shouldn't teach people how to knit anymore. I was able to do it at the library two years ago fairly easily but most of the people here have a ton of trouble when I teach them so I think it's something with how I teach. Makes me feel like crap but I'll admit that I'm also rather puzzled why some people have such a hard time picking it up. Considering I learned from a book without any real difficulty, that I remember anyway, they do strike me as a bit slow. Guess it has to do with different types of learning, guess I'm just a fast all around learner.
Good thing too since I was cooking at work today and had to pick up pretty fast when what was done when, don't think I undercooked anything and one girl came back to get a similar plate for her friend who had tried the noodles/veggies and loved it and I think I cooked that plate. Made me feel good anyway, it's simple cooking so I think it's kinda clever how the school has it set up for other students to cook since, I think it's a life skill to be able to cook up/heat up veggie and pasta stir fry in under five minutes anyway. But I must say, those frying pans are really heavy, haven't dropped it yet but I'm just waiting for it to happen, good thing I'm wearing shoes.
Photo class went okay, it's turning out to be another case where the teacher gets mad at the class but not me personally since I've proven I'm actually intellgent. In years past I hesistate when I'm the only one in class who can answer questions and quiet done, by now I'm at the "Eff y'all, I ain't pretending to be stupid just because y'all are" stage and simply don't care that I'm making all of them look bad. And our critique has been pushed back so I don't need to totally freak out about making prints, I'll start Thursday in class and then go from there. Well, maybe I should make one tomorrow, the thing is that fiber paper A)Takes longer to wash and B) Takes 24 hours to dry so it might be better for me to do some various test strips, and then look at them Thursday morning when they're 3/4ths of the way dry. Yeeaahhhh, that sounds like a better idea actually, the lab is open for two hours in the afternoon tomorrow anyway so I'll drop my stuff off after art and grab photo stuff. At least my negs came out good, some better than others but I think they all look interesting. But I almost had a heart attack when my teacher said our next shoot (if we have time for it) was going to be altered reality, duudddeee that's what I just did!
Showed Ghost Hound at anime club, wasn't expecting it to actually get shown, and by and large they didn't like it. XD Apparently I need to have a "WARNING: SLOW GOING" sign for some of my anime, even Chynna who likes Lain found it slow going*, I have to admit I wasn't as enamored of it on my second watch, something to keep in mind since I do want to get it on blu-ray someday. Also, the lines didn't look nice and smooth at all when shown through the projector but I wouldn't noticed stuff that glaring on my computer screen, weird.
So, hulu hates me now (not that it's liked me recently, but now it's being really odd) and fb is being wonky too, I believe that is my cue to take a shower, try again later, fail, and then do my Japanese homework.

*but I'm a little puzzled since sometimes Chynna loves the slow shows and I hate them and sometimes it's vice versa, maybe she likes slow plot oriented and I like slow slice of life? But I like plot heavy shows too, maybe I do like Lain and don't know it yet. o_O
