July the 27th: Seem to be fixing an awful lot of toilets lately

Gah, didn't get to start on my vacation report because that book review was so tough to get through. Average books (or any media) really is the hardest to write a review for, there's just not much to write about. And I'm going to have a review a day for the next week at least, might be two weeks before it slacks off, had a few books that I didn't get around to posting before I left, a few more I read on vacation, more to read here, and a few shows that I was close to finishing when I left as well. Lots and lots of stuff, between that and my sewing I shouldn't get bored anytime soon.
So, I was in the back getting books for the bookstore and the lights go out. I scramble out of the stacks (being in the dark with a lot of books and a stool nearby seemed like a bad idea, especially sine that room is DARK, the only light was from these three windows that were way high up, small, and only one was close enough to give light). Power comes back on and I grab the last stuff as the power keeps going on and off (not flickering, this was lasting longer) and it eventually gave up once I got into the main part of the library. The library must have some sort of generator (even though they said no when I asked) because we had some emergency lights and they were still able to check out my books. Nothing was on in the shop but the cash register did technically still have power, we just weren't sure how much so we didn't ring stuff up for anyone*.
Power wasn't on by the time I left and apparently my mom and brother got soaked when they were doing grocery shopping and it sounds like one of the main roads had a flash flood, six or 9 inches high too. There were flash flood warnings and watches for the counties around the state (mostly to the west of us) tonight as well, saw a few that won't lift until 6, hope we at least got some good water out of it.
Well I'm tired so I'll get to bed soon, just a bit of manga, some book reading, and then kicking the kitty off my bed. Apparently Ted had to give him a lot of petting while Sam and I were gone and he's wanted a lot of petting the past two nights from me (and keeps getting fur on my keyboard, have I mentioned he's a black cat and I have a white keyboard?). So, night!

*Although it's almost amazing at how many people came in wanting to buy stuff considering we had no lights on and cash registers are clearly and electronic. I say almost because some lieutenant governor of Tennessee (whose running for governor, dear god, that's only the next state over!) made some comment about Islam being a cult so my faith in humanity wasn't running too high today anyway.
