July 2nd and 3rd: I was going to post some stuff yesterday...

But then some stuff coming out of Anime Expo made me hold off on my anime review and I'm happy I did. So, quick rundown yesterday:

1. Did a happy dance over Nozomi licensing Soranowoto (didn't see but it's a series that was streamed on crunchyroll and picked up by a company that almost never streams, means that CR streaming can't be as bad as the companies like to say it is) and the re-license of Utena (you know, THE Utena series from the 90s which everyone says was good and I had given up hope on seeing anything other than crappy fansubs?), the remastered discs too!
2. Camera came in, happy dance again of course (just not in front of my dad, he teases me way more about my spazzy moments than my mom, probably because I got them from her).
3. Funimaton, ohmigawd, you are going to own my wallet next year. First they announced simulcasts for Shiki (which I already knew since it sounded like they had a contract with noitaminA for their shows), Black Butler II (while Funi does have the first season they don't usually do simulcasts but I guess the lure of the fangirls was too much), and Legend of the Legendary Heroes which surprised me but huzzah, half my summer shows. And then they announced re-licenses of Serial Experiments Lain (which I had been talking with Chynna about just the other night about how it was sad that it was going OOP now) and some other old Genon shows that I'm curious about (hey Funi, could you just admit you plan to eat Genon and get the rest of them? CCS is still in there, although I'd settle from someone saying that it's just not possible to get CCS for whatever reason). And then they had some new licenses, a few of which I was intersted in but I sat up when I read that Darker than Black II was part of it. Long story short, it was in the trailer section of a DVD from another anime company yet I knew that the reason it hadn't had a simulcast on CR was because the company was waiting on Funimation's offer so I had been totally confused. That was what threw a loop in my anime review after rant so I decided to hold off later.
4. Finally got the hat working, still having trouble but I've worked out the worst of.
5. Check twitter before bed and see "Oh and Durarara cast will be announced at Otakon." BWAAAHHHH, IT GOT LICENSED AND A DUB WHEN I WASN'T LOOKING?!? That was the source of the rant, I didn't trust Aniplex but upon seeing the release schedule idea (good....) and that it would have a dub (bring back Issac and Miria dangit!) I think pretty much the entire fandom rejoiced.
Then it was off to bed and the awesomeness continued in the morning with Viz saying they would be simulcasting Nurarihyon no Mago (they gave it a different name which I think is Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan). Not much else from Viz so I'm getting worried (well, more worried, considering they're working with a skeletal staff theirs tons to be worried about), better bump PLUTO up higher on my manga buying list.

And not much else going on, we shot off some fireworks tonight since Sam and I will be with our mom for the fourth and I got an interesting photo or two (need to read the manual so I can get a hang of my camera, gah, and the body feels so different from what I'm used to). Thinking that I'll start making short seperate entries for reviews of stuff like I do for anime to make it easier to sort, reading Throne of Jade now so that's likely to be the first one up.
And I've had a headache for a while that's not going away so I'm going to bed now, signing off.

shiki, black butler, anime, serial experiments lain, darker than black, nurarihyon no mago, camera, durarara, legend of the legendary heroes, fireworks
