So I guess it was a productive day after all (and should be glad there's not dirt under them, my mom is determined that we will out-do the neighbors in terms of leaf bagging but they have 30 out when we only have a measly 10. Worst is that you can't even tell we did that much work, we have so many bags these days). I'd been depressed back at App when I realized my mom had probably made the Greek Easter bread without me, turns out that she was waiting and I had my usual fun with kneading the bread. Think they turned out alright, they rose like crazy and we forgot the salt but that shouldn't have killed it.
Other than that, finished A Conspiracy of Kings and, without being very spoilery, I really like how MWT is handling the gods in this series. In the first book the gods are clearly shown to exist. Second book, don't seem to appear until things are said at the end (so during the book it's a "have the gods forsaken me?" and at the end it's "have my gods betrayed me?"), third book just reinforces that they exist (speaking of the third book, where the heck was Costis in ACoK?!? Should've at least gotten a mention). In this fourth book, it was fairly clear that there was divine interest early on ("Ah, so they are okay with this guy, alright") but after one scene at the end, I'm getting this image of the gods going "just as planned." I'm used to reading books (like Tamora Pierce's) where the characters are tools of the gods but nothing this subtle. Oh, and this is the first book I've read (although I know a few others use this technique) where part of the story was told in the second person (ie, talking to "you"). Makes my inner literary girl squee.
Hmm, I'll be sewing tomorrow (and more raking I assume, although it's more accurate to call it leaf shoveling) and I'll just watch a bit more Doctor Who before bed. Signing off!
