Like, I saw Ponyo the other day and it was just alright. I think it was an excuse for Ghibli to go "Hey! We still do hand animation, yay us!" because, while the plot isn't the strongest point of all their films to start with (aren't about half their films adaptions?) it was pretty weak here. And the adult characters, urgh, pet peeve of mine is how adults aren't portrayed realistically in Children's lit (although I will admit that it takes skill to balance the real world workings against a child's viewpoint, some people just don't try, but Ponyo did just a bit). Also moved a few shelves around (discovered that my DVD shelf was a millimeter or two too high for me to fit a second row of anime onto and I lowered the shelf below it as well so I could find the art books on there as well). And I had a moment this morning where I was about to go out grocery shopping with my mom (so, pretty close to the B&N which had also sent me a coupon that morning) and went "Wait a minute, didn't I get a $25 coupon for Christmas?"
*shakes everything out of wallet, not there*
*cue searching all over the room and finding the coupon more-or-less where I suspected*
So, between the new giftcard, the old gift card, and the discount I've still got $16 or so dollars left, enough for a hardcover (which I am buying even less these days since the prices went up, hello interwebz!) or I can probably squeeze almost two manga out of it. For those curious, I got Soul Eater volume 2, partially because I'm loaning the series to Chynna and also because B&N didn't have anything past volume 8 (which I do own) for Gauken Alice. I'm not buying that many series right now but it's funny to see that most of them are YP releases when, even just a year ago, most of them would've been TP releases, would love to know what exactly happened to make that company deflate from the inside.
Anywho, Casey was over tonight instead of Saturday and she had some amusing stories about torturing subs (the kicker on one story was "I lost the kids again!" which had everyone at the table going "Wait a sec, AGAIN?!?" Ted had rented Life of Brian to watch which was alright, not the best that Monty Python has produced but probably one of their most coherent stories.
So, before I stop being coherent, I'm off to the last sleep in my own bed. So sigin-is my cat snoring?!? *pokes* Gotta move him anyway, signing off!
