October the 19th and 20th: So bored/tired

Oct 22, 2009 20:17

Blah, the past few days have been both busy and boring, too much stuff at some times not enough in others. I guess the best thing I can do is try to accurately represent both of those times, and frankly I'm bored now so I have nothing better to do than post.
Monday was rather average until my club meetings. Oh my god I love the JCC and knitting clubs, there were just so many weird conservations. Also had a "you know you're in college when" moment when at the wrapps area of the food court the servers and another guy from the club plus myself had a small debate over poetry (concerning Hemingway and Robert Frost specifically in case you wanted to know). And then the conversations at the table, good lord I know the right people. XD I was telling my mom how you really didn't get to know the teachers in college like you did in high school but I am certain now that the officers in all three clubs I'm in at least recognize me now. XD I can recognize them too but still struggling with the names, gah, starting to have to fake that I know who someone is, I really need some tips for connecting names and faces. Knitting club was much the same but I did learn how to crochet! I actually picked it up super fast, like, ten to fifteen minutes to learn the two basic stitches fast. Then again I do knit so my hands are used to working with yarn and hooks/needles and I think I did correctly teach myself the single chain this summer, it was making the chain wider that had confused me. The girl who was helping me said she actually hadn't ever seen anyone pick up crocheting that fast and also seemed surprised when I said I was self-taught for knitting. I've had a bit of help on the way but by and large I've taught myself the handicrafts. And we might have someone who'll come in sometime to show us how to spin, then I'd know how to sew, knit, crochet, weave, and spin. All that'll leave is woodworking, that one really kicks my ass anytime I need to saw stuff. I suppose I should learn metal working as well but since Sam is really interested in that stuff I can probably get him to do any metal working I need. XD I have resources!
Tuesday had an exciting morning. I didn't have my 8 AM class since this is conference week, but my teacher suddenly canceled the conferences on Monday, when I was set to have mine, and rescheduled them for next Monday meaning that I have 12-ish hours to come up with a topic for a paper!
CRAPCRAPCRAPCRAPCRAPCRAPCRAP. I'm already having a super hard time coming up with topics for these papers, and I signed up for the earliest day so I would be able to have extra time! Another example of how my plans go wrong due to nothing I could have prevented, she hasn't even responded to my request to change the rescheduled date so hopefully my classmates can tell me what the topic is gonna be....
Anyway, so, no 8AM means I left the dorm a bit before 9:30 for my 9:30 class. I rush the elevator, get on with my R.A., we head down a few floors, pick up another guy, and the doors refuse to shut. The alarm is going off and everything so we have to wait for the other elevator, I swear the elevators have been breaking like crazy this week and it sounds like a lot of the times it was for something like we had, no apparent reason. But I get to class on time, the hallway upstairs smells a little like incense but I don't think much of it (hey so many people smoke that to smell a different kind of smoke is actually refreshing), and ten minutes into the class the fire alarms go off. I'm not even sure if the fire department ever got around or if someone else just turned off the alarm (Belk is in a weird place for trucks to get to, heck you can't get anywhere near the center of campus by bus or car, even bikes are a little tricky with all the stairs). But we go back to class and I am not pleased on how my history course is turning into a lighter version of my past four years of theology. Really now? Don't need more religious history, it's super boring and I would rathe rather be learning something different, and the religions just seem so boring in this class.
Saw some of Full Metal Panic in anime club and I have now come to the conclusion that Richard has HORRIBLE anime tastes. He brought in this, the Read of Die OVA, and what else was it...I forget but I found one of the other bad things we had watched in his room (plus Evagelion which was just lol-worthy). So yeah, mildly worried, what's funny is that the anime club officers seem to actually like my tastes (Le Chevalier D'Eon and Princess Tutu both got thumbs up from multiple people) and I think I've got fairly good taste as well, probably because I demand a certain amount of plot from any series I would recommend.
Annnndddd, I give up, I just can't type anymore, gonna go to bed, no wait, do a little more of the Japanese extra credit and then hit the sack. Blah, gonna try to hit up Walmart tomorrow for patterns and do laundry tomorrow, I feel so domestic. Signing off.

crocheting, club, anime, sewing, elevator, handicrafts, japanese culture club, fire drill, read or die, full metal panic, princess tutu, stuff that breaks, knitting, le chevalier d'eon
