For posterity, mostly.

Atlanta Flood 2009. Pics taken with my cellphone, so they suck, but it's better than nothing.

On my drive home from work. I was passing it literally right as Nancy Creek exceeded its floodplain and started to spill out all over Johnson Ferry Road

Nancy Creek, from Johnson Ferry.

Nancy Creek, from my father's backyard, on the high side of the floodplain.

I took this standing on the stairs visible in the prior pic. This is, thankfully, roughly twenty feet below my father's basement, but you can clearly see where it's flooding into the first storey of the houses across the creek.

A slightly different vantage point on Nancy Creek. To give you an idea what this means, look at the front, center part of the picture. See the water's edge? Okay, now measure back approximately two inches (about one inch up the trunk of the skinny tree that is dead center in this picture). Okay, see... that's where the water is supposed to be. No, really. The creek has almost entirely overtaken its 100 foot floodplain, and even with all that extra room? It's still at least 10 feet higher than its banks. Seriously.

"the great flood" 2009, there goes the neighborhood
