Death has been officially outlawed, at least in the world according to me.
Since you're all part of my world, it's important to remember that this law applies to you, and, by extension, your mother.
No, really. In the space of a month, the mothers of two different close friends have passed away, and the mother of a third has just been diagnosed with a brutal, terminal disease.
So I'm amending the law, effective immediately: It is hereby officially illegal for Bad Things To Happen to Anybody's Mom. Please make a note of it.
And to those of you who have already, recently or otherwise, lost your mothers, my deepest, most heartfelt sympathies. Your loss is unimaginable to me.
