long weekend was not long enough

But it was pretty damn awesome. Spent Friday night with this_is_kelly drinking margaritas and eating mexican food and shopping for her a smokin' black dress. Saturday was spent shuffling between Dragon*Con and the Decatur Book Festival. Dad said he wanted to take in the parade, to which I said, "OF COURSE!" It was crazy and beautiful and some people are way more skilled at costume making than I could ever imagine. I was so impressed by so many of those costumes.

DBF was fun, but I'm not sure if I'm burned out on it or if it's too big or what, but I didn't enjoy it this year like I have in the past. I did go to an event called "Write Club"- first rule of which is to tell five to seven people about, so y'all qualify- where authors are given essay topics ahead of time and they go head to head in a battle of writing/storytelling ability to see who raises money for charity. It was a lot of fun to see how authors I admired stepped up to the challenge. Everyone did a fantastic job and Atlanta peeps, there is an Atlanta branch. We should check it out sometime!

(Probably the reason that I didn't feel as into DBF this year, if I'm being honest with myself, is that I've said since it began that I was going to be there promoting my work. This was year six, and have I been there promoting anything yet? Have I published a damn thing, or even attempted to? No.)

I'm working on changing that thing in the parenthesis. I promise.

Saturday night I went to dinner with Kelly and a friend of hers and then Sunday I met up with the Merlin crowd for dinner. And pool. Which, I was not involved in that game and it's probably a good thing because it might have even lasted longer than it did. *cough*

I did miss netlynn, (BOO!) but it's okay because we're going to get dinner tomorrow night! Hooray! Cannot wait to meet her!

So, I have a bunch of new peeps on my f'list, thanks both to D*C and Paper Legends and just in that normal course of adding new friends, so I thought I'd do a quick about me post.

♥ I came to fandom through Harry Potter and was a canon girl through most of my time there (though I have been known to enjoy the occasional Harry/Draco). I also ship Charlie/Viktor. Don't ask, I really couldn't tell you. I think it is awesome that I am now friends with a bunch of people who were canon peeps way back in the day that I came to through Merlin.

♥ I love Merlin/Arthur, but the knights (particularly Leon) have stolen my heart. I will always, always, always love Merlin and Arthur and their scenes together will always make my heart go pitter-patter, but when you show me things like this I lose it. I spent all day at work looking like a goon because I was thinking about that interview. (P.S. There are vague sorts of spoilers in there when the boys are being interviewed, JSYK.)

♥ I do rarely pair Merlin and Arthur with anyone else, seriously. And I cannot bring myself to break up Lancelot/Gwen in most of my stuff. Unless it's a knight + Merln pile.

♥ Speaking of work, I work as a pharmacy tech at a doctor's office. I used to love my job but I'm tired of telling the same people the same things every month. I have a paralegal certificate as well and am searching for a job in that field. *fingers crossed*

♥ I also love Criminal Minds, Modern Family, Dirty Jobs- and hello! Mike Rowe as well, Eoin Macken saying 'pathos', snooter's Sid/Andy fic, all kinds of music and even though I pretend to be a snob about Ke$ha and Katy Perry, I still somehow ending up knowing all the words. I even, as you can tell from the cut text, like a little bit of country every once in a while. I'm a product of my upbringing:

♥ I live in the metro Atlanta area and I love it. I hate the traffic, the way the roads don't go where you want them to, and the way a lot of people are ignoramouses. But then I realize that there is traffic everywhere, that it's always an adventure whenever you go anywhere, and that there are ignoramouses (ignorami?) everywhere. I don't plan on moving. I love the South, and I can't do things to change it from the outside.

♥ I'm single and trying to change that, but I am shy.

♥ I take dance classes for fun/exercise. This year it's modern, tap and jazz/hip hop. The last one is most entertaining. Who can do the running man? This girl.

♥ Rupert Young. Seriously.

Tell me about you, now! What kind of coffee do you drink? How many children/kittens/octopi do you have? Favorite movie? Favorite book? Give me recs, I love recs!
