Active Bunch of Days (Warning: Some Yarn Content)

It's been a nice week for me, socially.

Wednesday I went to the knitting shop in Putney and pretty much spent the afternoon there with one of the women who work in the shop. It's so dead in the afternoon, she told me, that having company to knit with was always nice. Then she closed shop at 5 and we left for the shop in Vauxhall because she needed wooden knitting needles and the Putney shop didn't sell them. We hung out with the guys (yes, men who knit) who ran the Vauxhall knitting shop for a bit and then we went our separate ways.

But I made a new friend. So that was nice. And it seems our hubbies would get on well with each other, so we'll be having dinner next week.

Thursday I went to visit
charon47 in Bristol, so that I could get a change of scenery, visit someone I don't see very often and find a yarn shop. We had a lovely lunch, the weather was gorgeous and we found the shop and I lost my mind. Took me ages to make up my mind. We then headed off towards St. Alban's to
spin_guy's place and after a fantastic Thai dinner I took a train back to London from there.

Yesterday Nick had the day off and we went to Marwell Zoo with
tellivision. It poured a bit, drizzled some, but in the end it turned out lovely and the animals were cool. Even the lemurs. Who are terribly, adorably dim. I would like to own a snow leopard. Or an amur leopard. But if my back yard isn't big enough, I'll settle for a sand cat.

Today I had my writing workshop, which was fantastic apart from three rather pretentious people. One's on her second novel, one's on her first, and the guy was just... I don't know. Condescending, I guess, is the word for it. The one on the second novel asked me, "Oh are you writing a novel?" And I'd said no, but asking me just because she was writing her second one made me feel a bit shit. And the one on her first novel was trying to read into a piece I'd written too much.

"Oh, is it about food then? There seems to be a lot of that, what with the relative asking about her weight and the fine beans and all that."

No, you pretentious bint. The task was to write about someone thinking of the past and anticipating the future while preparing an important dinner. I am not preparing dinner with nails and sawdust. I am preparing dinner with, yes, that's right. FOOD. And she was using, for a writing workshop, one of those gorgeous hand-crafted notebooks with the magnetic catches that go for £12. For a workshop. More money that fucking common sense.

Nick picked me up after and we headed to the John Lewis sale to see if there was any good yarn on sale.

Lots of fun fur. Eck. There was one colour of some stuff I'd wanted to get, but as it was the colour of sandy poo, I thought, maybe not. Did score some nice silk yarn for half price, so that's not too bad.

Now I'm off to knit a bit, mostly because the fourth collection of Looney Tunes arrived for me today. Woo-woo-woo-hoo!
