Help.

FYI: They're all fairly equal on the warm factor, so we're going for looks. How vain, I know. I'll be wearing them mostly with pants, but probably with skirts now and then as well.

What do you think?

Poll I have to buy some boots for Mongolia. But I don't know which!

Well, I've never been to Mongolia but I grew up in jessibud September 30 2008, 00:20:43 UTC
Montreal, so maybe on the scale of cold and long winters, it's the same thing.

Forget looks. Frostbite isn't pretty. What you want are boots that have wiggle room inside so you can wear warm socks and still be able to move your toes. Toes that can't move will freeze. And frostbite HURTS. Trust me on that one.

Do you have (or can you find, before you leave) those things that are sometimes called *Hot Shots*? They sell them in sporting goods stores, for skiers and other winter outdoorsy-type folks. They come in pairs, and are little packets, about the size of 2 packets of sugar put together. There is something inside them that, once you shake them a bit to activate the stuff, will keep warm for up to 7 hours. You throw 'em inside your mittens (I think you can put them in your boots, too). They cost around $5 or less for a pair but they are soooo worth it! I used a pair inside my mittens when I slept at the Ice Hotel and it was the best thing I brought!

I never did hear why you chose Mongolia or how long you'll be there or what you'll be doing there. But I am sure you will have a wonderful adventure!!!

Stay warm!

Oh, I voted for the top pair of boots, btw! ;-)
