I've had a cold for the last few days. I'm fighting it off with copious amounts of Emergen-C, and so far, it doesn't seem to be blowing into anything too dastardly, but I still feel rather bleh and un-energetic. I'm sitting curled up in my comfy chair with my laptop for most of the day, reading various things and tripping about online. Only, boredom is setting in and I'm starting to feel a bit of the writing bug coming over me, so I MIGHT (read: might) do another chapter of Ephemera today if the muse is talking.
The news that New York legalized gay marriage exploded across the internet yesterday. This is brilliant, and I sincerely hope that the other states follow suit eventually, though I don't have much hope for my state. Texas is, after all, notoriously right-wing, racist, and homophobic. I remember at one place I worked in small town East Texas, having an assistant manager try to tell me that homosexuality is a disease, that there was a study "proving" it. I told her point blank that whomever published that "study" was dead wrong and clearly on the fringe of pseudo-science. (I said nothing about my own orientation, though I honestly consider myself rather flexible, though I've only technically been in straight relationships) She then proceeded to make my life at this place of employment very difficult, constantly calling me into her office to reprimand me about trivialities. (of course, this was the same place that fired someone for taking time off to attend her father's funeral) Fortunately, this job was just a filler until I could find better work, and I was out of there rather quickly.
Imagine that, though-- the human race evolving. It could happen. And it's long overdue.
