I know Valentine's Day can seem lonely if you don't have anyone to share it with, but everything's going to be okay! I heard a rumor that Cupid is going to be really busy this week. He and his magical Valentine's Day fairy assistants are going to make sure that no one's lonely!

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but I doubt anybody will find true love that way.

You never know. At least true Hogwarts love could be possible!

Is that different from the normal kind of love?

[wandandsword]

Yes, because it only happens at Hogwarts.

You mean casual relationships between students that will end when they graduate.

[wandandsword]

Exactly. But it doesn't sound very romantic when you say it like that...

It's not very romantic no matter how you say it.

[wandandsword]

Oh, I don't know. I think that loving someone, even if it's only for a few years, is always romantic.

[dofaye]

I'd much rather be with someone for the rest of my life, although I suppose you never can quite tell how long a relationship will last.

That would be nice, but not everyone is that lucky. It doesn't quite seem fair to say that it doesn't count if it's not forever.

But it's good for students to remember not to get too caught up in these things, isn't it?

[wandandsword]

I think it depends on the situation. Most people can handle getting a bit swept away by their emotions, and if that's the case, then there's really nothing wrong with it.

For a lot of teenagers, it's much more than getting just "a bit" swept away. Or have you never seen anybody get completely consumed by desire?

Well, no... I guess I haven't. Does it really happen that often?

Certainly often enough. Romance and lust can be absurdly distracting in some cases, espeically during holidays like Saint Valentine's Day.

[wandandsword]

But love potions are banned, and we have all those contraceptives if they're needed. That stuff might be distracting, but I'd like to think that most people are capable of controlling themselves. Maybe people do get consumed by desire, sometimes, but... I don't know. I don't think it happens all the time.
