Fringe: Alone in the World

I haven't even taken the time to write up my thoughts about 4.01 or 4.02 yet. (Which I loved.) And Maybe it’s my mood. Maybe it’s my expectations being too high. But last night’s Fringe disappointed me more than it didn’t.

I’m not going full-on meta here, I don’t have the energy for that right now. But here’s a few key (and a few minor) things that ( Read more... )

Ok, I just finished watching this week’s ep and I see your points and pretty much agree with all of them, though I wouldn’t go as far as to say that the show is disappointing me… Maybe because I have never had high expectations to begin with. Fringe is a good show, but too uneven and sometimes just plain badly written. I love the characters, some storylines and the performances but I just can’t take the writers seriously, sorry. I feel it’s too obvious they are doing the trick of making things up as they go along and I don’t trust them.

And yeah, I just don’t get why poor Astrid is so severely underused. After four seasons it's really frustrating. The most we get of Astrid is when she is working with Walter and while those scenes are always wonderful, I still can’t help but to want more. A real friendship with Olivia that we get to see, perhaps. More than that, I’d love to know more about her. How difficult would it be to give her a bit of a backstory? :/ (Though I am not going to complain about Linc screen time because I love this character so much -both versions).

And please, please, please, I hope they don’t go the Olivia/Lincoln route because I also hate love triangles and this one makes no sense at all. I ship Alt!Liv and Red!verse Lincoln like whoa but I don’t necessarily want to see any romantic developments between our Lincoln and Olivia. It’s too easy and yes, lazy writing in my opinion --I still believe they don’t intend to go there, but I am keeping my fingers crossed! Not that I care much for Olivia and Peter, but let’s them be happy, haha.

(Btw, hi bb!!! It's good to see you around! <3)

hi bb! :)

Oh, luckily the show as a whole isn't disappointing me, just that episode in particular. I always rant about what I *don't* like first, so it probably comes off horribly. There's a lot of things I really do like though, just need to write them up. XD

And hopefully it doesn't sound too much like I'm complaining about Lincoln. I love him and his alt self... so I'll take what I can get, just suppose I still get so frustrated with the show's lack of utilizing Astrid in a way that seems normal or logical. Like having her be friends with Olivia and be more involved in the cases. Lincoln could come along with both of them, it's not like having a third person around or heck even swapping which one is in the lab from one week to the next would change the dynamic all that much. And maybe I'm jumping the gun and that's exactly what they will do. I just get emotional about Astrid. You know that. ;)
