I don't know why but I'm loving LJ a lot. Unlike having a blog, I don't completely feel like I have to have something important, witty or entertaining to say. I can just rant, rave and ramble as much as I want, 'cause that's what so many other people do. So onto some pointless rambling...
I've determined I adore the name Claire. It's been everywhere lately. Featured as some of my favorite TV characters (6 Feet Under & LOST) as well as a fantastic book I just read. The Time Traveler's Wife (more on that in a second). It's just so simple yet sweet.
I'm behind on my TV episodes:
LOST
I've had last weeks LOST recorded for almost a week and still haven't watched it. I don't know why... I think though, it's because I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. I accidentally found out who died before hand, but I'm just afraid the show is being hyped up way too much this year. I mean, I like LOST a lot, but I don't love it the same way I did last year, but it's possibly the pacing, or just my impatience. I dunno which.
ROME
Also, I spent Sunday night catching up on my missed episodes of ROME. It's an awesome show! I've still got about 3 more episodes until I'm caught up, but it's getting really good. And sadly, I've determined the slash girls have once and for all corrupted my brain, because I just couldn't help thinking that Titus Pullo/Lucius Vorenus would be the most awesome slash pairing of Rome! Also, let it be noted that I would love to eat James Purefoy (Mark Antony) for dinner. That man is sex, pure sex! mmmm
Veronica Mars
I've decided since there has been so much raving about this show that I must go rent the first season to see what I've been missing.
Book Raving!
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger - Wow! Hands down my absolute favorite book! Can't rave about this book enough. In fact, I love it so much I'm creating a fan comm for the book as well as a fan site/fanlisting for the central relationship between the central couple. This is one of those books that I read and thought, "Damn it! Why didn't I think of that???" Very good, very well told, and stunningly beautiful!
Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho - I love Paulo's work! And this book is no exception. It varies quite greatly, and yet not, from his previous works. It's about dreamer turned prostitute who comes to terms with what she wants out of her life. It all seems terribly cliche, but Paulo has a style of writing that actually makes you relate with this woman and see yourself in her. It's a truly inspiring story of lust to love and sexuality to sacred sexuality, but mostly about a woman trying to find herself in this world with the expectations society puts on us to be "normal."
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel - Just started it and it's already really good. The writer has a distinct voice (which I always love) and I'm looking forward to finishing it. I'll update again when I'm finished.
