I've never really had a favourite movie, but I think I can count Stardust amongst those that leave the deepest impressions on me. Although technically, it started off as a book.
It kinda struck me while watching the movie that in some way, corny as it may sound, everyone is a star. Some lucky ones are able to shine brightly very much on their own. Most of us however, are not very remarkable, but we still shine in our different ways. There are many lights that glow very dimly, while others flicker and waver. Some can't even be seen at all. It's like looking at the sky in daylight - you can't see any stars. Or if you put a pretty star next to an even brighter one - she pales in comparison and suddenly seems dull.
Quite logical a train of thought; not too difficult to grasp.
Though what really intrigues me is how a bright star can make another star even brighter, like lending your glow. Or like how Tristan could make Yvaine glow so brightly. I think there's someone like that for everyone. A person whose presence in your life makes your light shine even brighter. And even a place in this world where you can shine and be as bright as you can ever be. I really would love to find that. In fact, I keep wondering of that really is what I've always been searching for.
