Hey...Help?

So a few months ago I had this great idea for a possible novel during NaNoWriMo this year (and since I'm doing Camp NaNo I don't have to wait until November!). My idea seemed pretty cool to me at the time, and I even thought up a couple rough characters and such, but now the more I think about it the more I feel like I will lose steam. So I'm going to post a general outline here, and I would love some feedback and tips on how to keep it alive for thirty freaking days.

It takes place in the future, but not too distant. Maybe somewhere between 50 and 100 years or so? Anyway, technology has become so developed that when you are a baby in the womb, they are able to insert a microchip into your brain. As you are born and grow and learn things, this chip does as well. This microchip is the key to your romantic happiness; a list is created of all possible mates you could potentially end up with. When you are young, the list has thousands of names, with hundreds being added and taken off daily. As you age, the list gets smaller, still however containing several hundreds of names. When you find a person from your list (your name is on their list, too) there is an instant, undeniable connection that neither person can ignore. Once finding one of your perfect partners, the microchip moves at a much slower pace, due to the happiness of both people involved.
My novel would be from the point of view of one of these people ( I can't decide which I would rather write for, a man or woman) who has a faulty microchip. Rather than finding one of their ultimate spouses, my MC never feels a connection with any person they meet. Luckily, though, this same problem is happening to one other person somewhere out there, and they are meant to find each other. Somehow.

I have a few side plot ideas, like someone's microchip never fully shuts off and they have an affair. Or someone never actually finds someone from their list. Or someone doesn't even have a chip. I don't know.
Any advice would be really helpful, though haha :)
