poems: of an acrostic nature...

Feb 16, 2011 19:33

So, I wrote these AGES ago for my super brilliant team_enfuego (the poems are not, unfortunately, super brilliant).

Fandom: Grey's Anatomy
Characters/Subjects: 1. Seattle Grace and 2. Izzie Stevens
Rating: 1. M and 2. G
Summary:

1. Left, Right, Left, We All Fall Down
Something shifts in the aftermath.
Equilibrium stumbles a little to the left
As
The sound of gunshots and
The copper tang of blood and bruising
Leaches into walls,
Elevator floors. Black and white fades to
Grey at the edges.
Raw and tearing
As
Cracks appear and
Eyes won't quite flutter to open.

2. Pressure And Time Have Their Way
Ice melts as
She walks
Out between sliding doors. Takes a deep
Breath and doesn't look back.
Everything she was cracks and crumbles at her feet,
Lays shattered into
Shards that she can't hope
To shape into something familiar.
Empty and emptying.
Varied promises fade to black and midnight blue as the ghost of
Everything she thought she knew
Numbs the slow thump of her blood.
Stops the shrill beat of her screams before they stumble, tumble from her lips.

In other news, apparently there is a WIP meme going around? Might has well throw my hat in the ring...! (TVD, GA and Orig Fic be here...). Idea shamelessly fleeced from slybrunette, openended, and citron_presse.

Fandom: The Vampire Diaries
Characters/Pairing: Tyler/Caroline
Working Title: Untitled (Yes, I am THAT cool)
Notes: For abvj (Yes, she is THAT cool)

The night is fickle. Clear but cold. Deceptive.

Fitting, really.

There's a gate but it's open and so he passes right through. Catches the sleeve of his jacket in the barbed wood of an overhanging tree. Curses the way his breath hitches in his chest as he fights to free himself.

The metaphor is just a little too blinding.

Fandom:Grey's Anatomy
Characters/Pairing: Undecided! At present Mark and Alex (And Lexie)
Working Title: Ngl, it's MarkAlex. Which probably answers the above question.
Notes: This is an excerpt from pages of dialogue I have written. There is precisely ZERO actual body to this fic so far...!

“She dumped me and then... and then she slept with you...”

“So that's the real issue here then. It's not that she dumped you, it's the fact that she slept with me afterwards. I'm sensing a pattern here, are you?”

“It's got nothing to do with you, you arrogant piece of--”

“I agree...”

“What?”

“I agree, it's got nothing to do with me and everything to do with the fact that you assumed you could have it all. Am I close? Everything you ever wanted was about to come true. A family, a kid, a great chick that you totally don't deserve. You just forgot the most important part...”

“Oh yeah? And what's that?”

“You forgot to ask her what she wanted. In fact, rumour has it that you forgot about her entirely for a second or two... or ten.”

Fandom: Grey's Anatomy
Characters/Pairing: Alex (Alex/Izzie)
Working Title: As I Become An Old Memory
Notes: leobrat may remember being the inspiration behind this one, even if she doesn't know it!!

His pulse pounds somewhere at the back of his left eye. He wants to raise sweat shaky palms to his right. Search out tangible confirmation that it's still where it should be.

His movements are jerky. Too heavy and too light and too far away and too close all at the same time.

Her hair is longer than he remembers it, though he calculates he only saw her hours ago. His fingers catch in curls at the nape of her neck. She's smiling.

She's beautiful.

She shaved her legs for him and he knows it means something, that it's an important fact. Even if he can't quite seem to pull all the pieces together into something real enough to provide the kind of answer he can understand.

He never was good at this. Despite the bravado.

Or maybe because of it.

-

Clouds roll by. He doesn't remember seeing them before.

Red on his knees. Maybe his. Maybe hers.

Fandom: Original Fiction (aka, NANO2010 attempt that stalled just shy of 25k)
Characters/Pairing: Mitch/Sawyer
Working Title: Someone Else's Sky
Notes: I still harbor vague hopes that this will one day be finished!

“Jesus, Mitch. I covered for you, again...”

She deflates now, collapses back against the plasterboard wall behind her and sends a black and white photograph askew, distracts him momentarily. His nieces running through knee high surf in heart shaped sunglasses and floppy polka dot sunhats. A type of innocence in their smiles that he's never managed to recreate. He remembers taking the shot, the sun high in the sky above him, creating a glare on the water that only managed to illuminate their joy even further.

The photograph rocks violently again as Sawyer shifts her position, and Mitch lurches forward to catch it, arrives seconds, days, lifetimes too late.

He's always too late. Inches and milimetres from salvation but fading fast in the direction he always heads.

Backwards and south.

The glass smashes to slivered shards at their feet as the dark wood frame splinters. The sound echoes in the cavernous expanse inside his chest, fills the holes where he thinks his heart and lungs used to live.

“Oh.”

Sawyer's face drains of all colour as her fingers work their way to her lips, the universal silhouette for oh, fuck.

He begins a slow clap that he knows will only infuriate her further. Tops it off with a snide 'ten out of ten' and crunches his way out of the room as her words repeat on a loop.

“Jesus, Mitch. I covered for you, again...”
