Seeing that there was a distinct lack of him this episode, I'm going to rant.

Because I can.

I know. He's so alone now that it makes me seriously miss Reed! At least, she'd try to be there. I've never really appreciated that till now.

I was just talking to a friend who also watches the show today. And she thought, comparing to everyone else she thinks Alex is doing really good. I was like...H.HOW? It always amazes me how misunderstood this character is, by the characters on the show and the audience.

The thing is, because Alex's reaction to the shooting, on the surface, is the same as how he usually deals with things. People would just assume he's perfectly normal, even though there was never anything normal about how he deals with his traumas.

But I'd never understand why it's okay for Lexie to have a break down, but not okay for Alex to walk away from it. What makes it seem like Alex is more whole and healed than Lexie, and is capable of take care of her at that point? Somehow when everyone else is dysfunctional, it's because they have PTSD; when Alex is dysfunctional, it's because he's a jerk...

If that's what people got from the premier, that Alex is the same ass he's always been, then I don't know what show they've been watching for six seasons. JC plays the hell out of a fantastically complicated character. It's a shame he's been so overlooked because of how little attention and material they give him.
