[nostalgia] grey's anatomy | "nobody knows where they might end up..."
Firstly, a quick hi to the couple of people who've added me to their flists since I started this sprial of dooooooom. WELCOME TO THE RABBIT HOLE!
Secondly, I'd always planned to 'Watch An Episode, LJ An Episode'. Only, as most of you already know, self-control and I are not close friends, and I accidentally watched seven episodes in a row. Oops? But that does mean I've finished season one! Yay.
Thirdly, ALL THE FEELS. AND ALL THE THOUGHTS. AND ALL THE FLAAAAAAAIL.
[+] Izzie and Cristina | As the show progressed, I always thought I'd imagined any real, solid connection between Izzie and Cristina. That it had always been Meredith and Cristina and that Izzie was just there. Sometimes. BUT THAT IS SO NOT THE CASE AND WHAT I HAD COME TO BELIEVE WAS MY OWN HEADCANON IS ACTUALLY ACTUALCANON!! So much Izzie and Cristina in season one! It wasn't even particularly antagonistic between them, either.
[+] Meredith and Derek | I really wasn't into this pairing the first time around. But with 283 seasons of additional information, good and bad, to draw from, I am most definitely feeling it and it's awesome because it's new for me in a way I wasn't expecting.
[+] Alex and Paeds Patients | It was there as early as season one, episode eight 'Save Me', when he was assigned the teenager who'd converted to orthodox Jew and was basically perfect with her. Snarky, smart-assed, rude, obnoxious, but, ultimately, fervently on her side. DO NOT JUDGE ME FOR MY HEART EYES, OKAY? They're over a decade old and it is no longer my fault...!!
[+] Cristina and Burke | Another thing I really wasn't into the first time around, and I know Isaiah Washington ended up blowing it big time which didn't really help matters, but yikes, they looked beautiful together... ya know?! And had chemistry the Cristina/Owen shippers could only dream of... /shallow
[+] Izzie and Alex | It's simmering still, but it's there. I KNOW IT. He is such an arsehole for pretty much all of season one, with occasional moments of honesty and sincerity, BUT... Izzie's faaaace when they're operating on the junkie and he's talking about his dad... SHE WAS A GONER FROM THAT MOMENT AND SO WERE WE ALL, FLISTIES, AND SO WERE WE ALL....
[+] MAGIC | Ensemble of my hearrrrt. And season one is just the mere tip of the iceberg when it comes to these five. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF TO COME. Even better than penicillin injections and lunch time shenanigans...

[+] I'd half intended to properly ~analyse the episodes/themes/character arcs etc, in a meaningful and pseudo!intellectual way, but, pffft. All I wanna do is wallow in the mud of my own tear fueled nostalgia and talk about how glorious everything was. There's nothing to be gained by nitpicking something that's over 10 years old, because, sure, there's plenty of nits that could be picked, but that's no longer what this is about for me.
In fact, I'm not sure it ever truly was...
And, on this, the 11 year anniversary of the pilot episode, I'm gonna go watch the premiere of season two! SEASON TWOOOOO. My fave of all the seasons. I think. Into you like a traaaaaain....
