Of course Shay's feet are bare. More importantly, what a simple way to portray exactly what Shay is for Kelly. She is someone who lifts him up (bare feet) while everyone else, or the memory of them, wears him down somehow (boots). Renee...the both of them. *sigh*

AND THEN ALEX ENTERS THE FIC AND ALL COHERENT THOUGHT IS LOST AS THE TWO OF THESE BOYS INTERACT AND EVERYTHING IS GLORIOUS FOREVER AND EVER AMEN PRAISE BE TO GOD.

He grins because, yes, yes he does. And he’s always been able to count on Alex to tell it like it is. He has (notice that I've made these two canon for quite some time and this is but a continuance of that canon for me). Alex is exactly who he needed to go see when he needed to get his shit together. *nods* Yep. Good Kelly.

And THIS: Alex, eyes still locked fiercely on him, slides the sheet of images from the envelope, twists then, holds the film up against the fluorescent glow of a streetlight.

This time, his silence, seconds, minutes, hours long, tells a thousand stories.

None of them good.

“Okay,” Alex says finally, lowers the scans to his side and turns back around, one hand pressed to his mouth in a way that makes him almost impossible to read. Almost. “There’s a couple of people we need to go and see.”

I think I've already offered you my next born and my hand in marriage BUT I WILL OFFER YOU WHATEVER ELSE YOU WANT because this.was.PHENORGASMENAL.

OMG, F, I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU LIKED THISSSS!!! I was all, OMG, catteo, do you think she'll like it? Will it be okay? Alex feels weird. I think he's out of character, REASSURE MEEEE!!!! And she was all, CHILLAX WOMAN! ALEX IS FINE!

So, mostly just, PHEW! I am so glad you liked it! Even though I am also sorry it wasn't Carrie/Jesse or Carrie/Alex. I still have them on my radar but, holy cowabunga dude, HARD!

Okay, moving on.

The other thing that terrified me with this was that I really made no attempt to go into detail about their history together, to like, build a believable backstory for the two of them. And that was deliberate because I kind of thought it was beside the point at this stage, but I still NEEDED for it to real real. And possible. SO I AM GLAD THAT YOU HAD THIS REACTION!
