I've just finished watching 'New Car Smell', the fourth episode of Homeland's second season. As in, literally minutes ago finished watching it. Not sure that now is the best time to attempt meta, but I HAVE ALL THE THOUGHTS and so... here goes!

OHMYGODWTFBBQ (It deserved ACTUAL WORDS FOR THE OMG BIT) LEESA, MY MIND IS BLOWN!!!! That was just about the LAST thing that I was expecting. I thought that they were aiming for B/C sexehtiems and INSTEAD THEY DID SOMETHING FREAKING EPIC! You know me, I ship everyone I can given the opportunity but the thing that I LOVE with this show is how it does the unexpected. So many shows would have taken that scene and turned it into exactly what I thought it was going to be, but instead these guys were like, NAH. WE'RE GOING TO ARREST BRODY AND LOCK HIM IN A CELL AND HIT HIM WITH SOME COLD HARD TRUTH. The "I liked you." "I LOVED YOU!" moment was so insanely well acted that I got full body chills. As the episode finished I was AGOG. The fact that it's a third of the way through the season and they've caught Brody is nothing short of ballsy. I mean yes, there are still so many threads, but WOW. You're so right in that the exciting thing is watching it all play out. It's fun sometimes to go along for the 'whodunnit' ride, but I adore the fact that these shows give us all the answers and then just take us along for the ride with the characters that have LITERALLY no clue what's going on.

Jess and Mike? You know how I feel. I am so excited to see that dynamic play out and I feel sure that it's going to impact on more than the people we think. I love that Mike and the other vet think that Brody is working for the CIA. HOW WRONG CAN YOU BE GUYS?! But now that the suspicion is there, and with Mike's higher level security access, how long is it going to take before he learns the truth? And how long for everyone else?!

Loved Dana and Finn. That goodnight text moment made my cold dead heart beat again it was so damn adorable. I remember that feeling and they played it BEAUTIFULLY.

I am so glad I saw this before the email so I could wordvomit all over your lj as well as your email! I WANT THESE SHOWS TO CONTINUE TO DO THIS FOREVER. BrBa will live on in my heart long after it's over. Man. What astounding TV.

I don't even necessarily think this show is about giving us all the answers, I don't think it's about answers at all. I think it's about showcasing what happens in the immediate aftermath of a climax, whatever that climax is! How people react to each other, what new things spring from it...

Take this episode for example: I mean, we didn't really get any answers. We already KNEW Brody was a terrorist in the making. We already KNEW the CIA were onto him. We already KNEW Carrie loved him. We already KNEW that his mates were getting suspicious. We already KNEW Carrie was unstable. We didn't really get the answers to any questions this episode. What we got was the opportunity to experience the fall out. What's going to happen to Carrie? She directly disobeyed an order, but she's not technically CIA either so... does it matter? How's Dana going to handle this? What is the fall out going to mean for her? Is Brody going to be shipped to Guantanamo Bay?

I just crossed all that out because I've realised on re-read that at no stage did you say this show was about getting answers and this is reason number 147 why I should not attempt to reply when I have many milligrams of promethazine in me!! [today has not been a good day for allergies!!]. I only crossed it out, instead of deleting it, because I do stand by my comments, but I also 100% recognise they are in no way related to your actual comment! APOLOGIES!!! Basically [and in the words of Tatu], I agree with ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID, ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID, ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID!

ANYWAY!!! Whodunits are for The Killing, THE END!

THIS SHOW!! SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXPLORATION. YAY, SHOW! OH, HOW I LOVE YOU!

That goodnight text moment made my cold dead heart beat again it was so damn adorable. AGREED!! I think it's such a realistic portrayal of a teen relationship! I mean, the kids on Teen Wolf/Jeremy on TVD etc are meant to be the same age as Dana and Finn, and I know, I know, the comparison isn't fair because TW/TVD aren't trying to depict reality [or, if they are, they're doing a REALLY SHIT JOB OF IT!!], but I do think Homeland does it so well!! I can relate to their relationship completely.

Also, Dana's snark is the actual best!!

Mike and Jess! SO ON BOARD WITH THAT! Not that I think this show is about hooking people up, so it may not happen. BUT STILL. Love it!!

BrBa will live on in my heart long after it's over. Man. What astounding TV. AMEN!!!
