Well, I can't sell the original art, unfortunately, no-one wants it, let alone charge hundreds. :)

But if someone asks you to paint something particular as a favour, then...considering the time involved, one would expect a LITTLE bit more of a thankyou than that. (And I don't think I'm being mercenary there.)

(The canvas board cost me a couple of quid even before I got started)

Yeah, I'd happily sell stuff for a reasonable price. Unless you're famous/established, you could never hope to get minimum-wage levels for it. But the low return would be set-off against the fact that at least it's doing something you love doing.

I hadn't even thought of printing costs. Because I'm pretty long-sighted now, I tend to scan in the reference photo and then print it off larger so it's easier for me to see.

Mind you, it's the same with all craft work I think. It's all about perceived worth. People will haggle over the price of a hand-knitted baby's jumper in a craft market, (comparing it with the price of mass-produced foreign stuff in cheap shops). Yet will pay LOADS of cash for the same item in a posh shop with the right sort of "Hand-made" label on it.

And I've rambled all over your LJ and completely lost where I was going. *LOL* Sorry... :)
