Remembering Gordon B Hinckley

I just want to note my memories of Gordon B Hinckley.  He became president of the church shorty after Melissa and I moved to Illinois.  Melissa frequently would say, "So, did President Hinckley chew out the brethern again" after coming home from Priesthood Session.  She was referring the several addresses he gave condemning abuse and promoting supporting our wives and children.

Some lighter memories:
- My step sister Susannah had a friend in her Salt Lake City ward who had just moved from another ward:  She was just deciding to come back to church and met this wonderful elderly sister who was often by herself at church.  Finally one Sunday this sister introduced her husband: President Hinckley.  After the introduction he joked, "So, this is the little sinner my wife has been raving about."

- Just heard on the radio: a wife of a stake president in the UK had couple wild young boys.  President Hinckley said to the older boy: "You're probably a wonderful boy when you are asleep."

I treasure my bishop ordination certificate signed by such wonderful men as Gordon B Hinckley, Thomas S Monson, and James E Faust.
