gone with a rock promoter

What must have happened, around 3:30 AM, was, when they told us the courtyard area of the bar was closing, I mistakenly abandoned my messenger bag in a drunken haze, and someone else walked off with it. When we emerged onto 4th Street I noticed I felt lighter. I bugged the bouncer, who talked to the cleaning crew. They checked the lost and found. Nothing. I called back this morning and of course it had not magically materialized in the interim.

So in the bag, which itself was a gift from my sister, was:

-60 GB iPod
-digital camera
-checkbook
-IRS supplement check
-Andy's 1st edition copy of Mason & Dixon

Altogether about $1500 worth. I put a stop on the checks in the checkbook, but the IRS obviously wasn't in today. I hope the thief isn't thick enough to try to emulate my signature, which is basically a loop, a squiggle, and another loop.

I was planning to upgrade the iPod and the camera eventually, but I certainly don't have the spare cash to do it anytime soon. (Oh, and my PS2 finally died.) But I'm not really that bothered by this, honestly. I'm thinking a lot more about the new friends I made last night. I'm up to like 6 just in the past month. I'm the opposite of who I was in college.
