Nadia had been very surprised to find the note on her door. She wondered if his leaving had to do with her dream and him breaking up with Walter and . . . well. She wondered a lot of things.
One of the big ones was how Walter was taking it.
She still had a key to the room, but she also had a sense of propriety, so she knocked.
Boy!Nadia had been quite good looking. Walter was ready to nod until he heard her counter-proposal. "But...!" he sputtered. "You already wanted to wear a tuxedo!"
"I'd be better off as a girl if you're going to try to shove me in a dress." He shook his head. "I don't know how to do those girl things like hair and makeup. You don't want your date looking like a clown dressed him... her."
Nadia rolled her eyes. "I redid Pippi's hair, remember? I can certainly do yours." She quirked her mouth to one side, then shrugged. "Okay, we'll flip for it. Heads and you go as a girl. Tails, and you don't. Deal?"

That would have just been silly, though.
"It's Nadia. I got a letter from Victor, are you okay?"
Dumb question? Yeah, maybe. But it was all she had at the moment.
