Musings of a soldier

Apr 05, 2010 12:08

Here it is month 5 of 12. The Chaplains Corp has a motto "pro patria deus" which means for God and Country. At one point in my life that was more than enough. Today with a wife and everything that is familar back at home I am not so sure.

I beleive in the mission, and I beleive that I am making a difference. However, that does not mean I am not angry and frustrated at what it took to get to this point. Afghanistan is actually a hauntingly beatiful country with a fierce and prideful culture. It is worth securing as much as anywhere is, but ten years have past. Ten years ago I was in highschool.

I think what really makes me wonder is does anyone care. I know it was hard for me to imagine the Americans on the otherside of the world, even as I trained to take over from them. Tell me world does America care? Are they willing to sacrifice now so the future does not pay? I do not know...

I do not even know if anyone still reads this. Still, I committ this to the interwebs. May God have mercy on all of us.
